Buy Nopalito: A Mexican Kitchen: A Mexican Kitchen [A Cookbook] Illustrated by Gonzalo Guzman, Stacy Adimando (ISBN: 9780399578281) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Complex but worth it - I really enjoy this book. I live in London and have managed to find most ingredients easily (in store and online). I’m not going to complain about hard to source ingredients, because I totally expect and welcome that when I’m cooking different cuisines. But if you’re someone who wants to find everything in your local supermarket, pass on this book. Being relatively unfamiliar with authentic Mexican cooking in the UK, I have really enjoyed learning new techniques. I make all my own tortillas and tacos now, and like with all things a little practice and persistence takes you very far. I’ve enjoyed pickling, learning to cook meat via the boiling method, and expanding my salsa making skills. But again, if you’re averse to putting in some time and effort to genuinely learn new skills, because of time or whatever, pass on this book. For those who are interested, it’s fantastic. The recipes are delicious and there’s a real range of them. Salads, salsas, breads, pickles, veggies, and meats. Something for everyone. Review: Brilliant and authentic - I have wanted an authentic Mexican cookery book for ages. This one fits the bill precisely. Mouthwatering recipes, which are easy to follow. Cactus paddles are a tad difficult to obtain in Essex though. I love this book.

Fab Mexican food
This is a really great book with wonderful recipes. My only gripe as a UK reader is the truly awful US cookbook measurement system of cups. Cookery is not a precise science, but really, why not use weights and liquid measures.

Great recipes but some require time and some obscure recipes.
Some great recipes, some restaurant level complexity reflected in the required amounts of preparation/cooking time and ingredients. Right up my street, but others (like my wife for whom this book was bought as a gift) may want more accessible and convenient recipes.

Authentic Fresh Exciting Mexican Recipes
4.5☆ Review If you like Authentic Mexican cooking then Nopalito is for you. Nopalito is special and you can see lots of thought and research has been done to ensure each recipe has as much information as possible. It's more than just a recipe book it has lots of background information about the family and the history behind it. It also has lots of great information about Mexico and what you would find in a Mexican Pantry and kitchen with explanations regarding utensils etc.. Plus plenty of information on ingredients so you get the very best from your recipes. Explanations are detailed and very easy to follow. There is something for everyone, meat, fish, vegeterian, desserts. Plenty of yummy recipes to try. Mexican food is one of my favourites and I couldn't wait to get stuck into this book, discovering different food from the normal enchalidas and fajitas I enjoy so much. Examples of recipes : * Black Bean– Stuffed Tortillas with Shredded Chicken Arroz Mexicano * Fish Tacos Marinated in Adobo * Crispy Red Quesadillas with Braised Red Pork and Pork Rinds * Little Gem Salad with Apples, and Jalapeño Vinaigrette * Baked Tortilla Chips Tossed with Spicy Salsa de Árbol Guacamole * Fruit Salad with Chile and Lime * Chicken Tinga Tostadas * Refried Pinquito Beans * Grilled Steak with Chorizo * Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Poblano * Marinated Shredded Pork Tacos * Vegetable Enchiladas with Cilantro Salsa * Churros Mexicanos * Spicy Mango Popsicles * Hot Chocolate with Chiles * Margarita * Mexican Wedding Cookies These are just a sample of the amazing recipes. Each recipe title is written in Mexican and English. The recipes are measured in cups which I don't find to be a problem as cup measurements are easily available or can be converted using internet conversion tables. However I do understand that this could potentially be an issue if you had no access to either. I can't wait to get stuck in and to try some of these amazing authentic recipies. I will definitely be recommending this great book to friends and family. I received this book from the Publisher in exchange for a honest and fair review via Netgalley.

I bought this book on the recommendation of someone else and I am glad I did. There is so much in here that I want to cook right away and it has given me the confidence to start trying to make my own tortillas instead of buying store bought ones. So many recipes, so much flavour. Would recommend.

This is not a book for beginners. However, it is very useful for someone who plans to cook 'Mexican' as opposed to 'TexMex'. The 'house' recipes provide a basis for making ingredients that are used in later recipes. Very useful for someone who can not always access the ingredients for true Mexican cooking. The book then gives more detailed recipes for small plates and large plates. They are clearly written and easy to follow in you have had some experience in Mexican cooking.
