Fantastic
First off let me say this. Fantastic hood. Best I've ever owned and nearly the cheapest. I'm not a hobby welder by any means. I do this for a living and have for a while. 10 hrs a day every day. Indoors, outdoors, in a shop , off a truck, ect. I also own several $400-700 hoods with all the bells and whistles, but none of them are as useful as this hood. I've given this hood to a newby that's never welded and then given him my Lincoln 3350, that costs 350 bucks more. He gave the Lincoln back and requested the sugar scoop. I've let the old hands try it too and they had same response. I as well prefer it to any of my other hoods. I liked it so much I bought a second one. Not because it broke but the shop always wants to use it lol. First one is going on 2 yrs. No issues whatsoever, minus some scratches on the silver surface. Which I might add is durable asf. I thought I was upgrading it by putting a Jackson headgear on it. Which I did modify to fit....but that was a down grade and I regretted it instantly lol. A few key points on this hood. This is basically a similar hood to the chopped sugar scoops from that one expensive company that does sugar scoops. But for a lot less money. *1. You need a good lense, as it comes with none at all. I recommend their auto dark lens or an arc one singles lense ( which I use ) *2. It's very well balanced. Probably the best balanced hood aside from the esab a60. Although the a60 is considerably heavier and at 375 bucks more. *3. The flip up front is so much better vs a grind mode on the expensive hoods. I use an hd arc one singles 10 shade auto dark lens. And I can can weld, cut , grind, ect without having any of those weird forgot to hit the grind button issues or flashing myself, because it's a manual flip front with an auto dark lens. *4. That silver finish they offer is great. It's slick so things do not stick to it. After 2 yrs of use it's looks like most hoods after a week or two. It also does help cut down heat. Although I will reflect your arc flash around the shop. But that's their problem hahaha. Don't stare at the guy welding maybe lol. Overall impressions.....6 out of 5 stars. I recommend for anyone tired of bully overly expensive hoods that don't last. I've kicked it, dropped it, lost it off the back of the work truck at 80 mph , fell off a balcony. Still hasn't broken or even cracked. Thank you to the people that made this thing. It's what I wanted all along.
