The Creator and the Cosmos: How the Latest Scientific Discoveries Reveal God

Captivating and mind blowing as well as informative and inspiring
Wonderfully awesome and informative book. I love physics anyway.. this book mixes astrophysics with an understanding of the Bible. I found it so enlightening. He was, the author, an atheist before he was an astrophysicist. He said the Bible is the first holy book to get the science correct. This intrigued me. I took this book on the plane and every opportunity I had I read it and highlighted and dog eared so many pages. It's refreshing. Hugh Ross says he started reading all of the Holy books to disprove them and he did, but he saved the Bible for last. But he ended up proving that all of the science in the Bible lines up with what he studied for years and knows to be true about the cosmos and the universe and physics.

An Outstanding Book on Both State-of-the-Art Science and the Precise Demands for the Creation and Sustenance of Life!
This book presents a very intriguing correlation of the latest state-of-the-art view of 21st Century Science from the Big Bang, Quantum Mechanics to the Earth, Sun and the Cosmos of our Universe that are consistent with the many general revelations in the Bible about Creation. The author demonstrates a masterful command of the latest scientific knowledge that has been recently made available by the Hubble Telescope which makes it possible to view the origins and the Cosmic Radiation remnants of the Big Bang that prove that our Universe had a beginning as well as a beginning of Time (i.e., our Space Time) that indicates Creation and hence a Creator that lies unseen outside of our Universe. As well as advances, at the extremely small Quantum levels.Especially, notable are the many cited and explained examples (i.e., 210 instances) of extremely fine-tuned and close tolerances of physical parameters from the Quantum levels to the Cosmos levels that are essential in order for Life to form and be sustained here on Earth. I found his list of these specific examples discussed in the book concisely summarized in Appendix A to be very helpful. The author clearly understands both the Science and what the Bible says about creation – The ability to easily see the two world-views of Biblical Records vs. Materialism correlated in this unique way is both surprising and intriguing, especially for many Astrophysicists, Cosmologists and other Scientists discovering the preponderance of strong evidence for Design at all levels of our huge & wondrous universe.Whether you are a scientific materialist and religious skeptic or a Judeo-Christian believer, there is much to be learned about science and the Bible in this amazing book!

Perfect for apologetics
I have several disciplines, and one is theology, at the master's level. I wrote about general revelation, and tried to make the point that our own "big bang" of knowledge and power of science is a major untapped resource for gaining insight into the nature of God by understanding creation more expansively. When I read the evidence against an oscillating universe I was reminded of a argument I had at a dinner party. The host considered himself the font of all knowledge, and was almost a caricature of an extreme narcissist. His book on all pertinate knowledge used an oscillating universe to deny the existence of God. The only downside to the book is that it would be too advanced for someone like him. Ross makes the points that people will deny God due problems with information, or for self-serving reasons. I think in the above character's case that he needed to deny the existence of God, because that would somehow diminish his need to mask his deep underlying sense of inferiority with a mask of self-deluding superiority. It might be interesting to do a psychological study on the personality characteristics of those who style themselves as atheists.

Very good book
This is a very good book. I would have given it 5 stars if I hadn't read "A Matter of Days" by Hugh Ross before I read this book and a lot of the material is the same. I actually like "A Matter of Days" a little better but that may just be because I read it first. Any Christian who is also interested in science will enjoy both books.

My opinions
This book, as others by Hugh Ross, is well written and extensively researched. In my opinion it is difficult for any reader with an open mind to not believe we are the result of Devine intervention. I am glad to say I am one of those and I thank Mr. Ross for his dedication and devotion in his writings.

God Unveiled in Our Universe
An amazing, eye opening technical read of the creation of the universe and the absolute fine tuning from God, our Creator, to give us the Earth we live in today. Although some of the technical information, e.g., quantum physics references, were difficult to grasp, Prof. Ross conveys this the best he can in more layman terms and provides wonderful analogies. It has bolstered my knowledge and deepened my faith and belief in our Christian God.

Great Book
Excellent scientific information about the universe and God.

Secular Science just seeks “how”. This book is full of the “why’s”.
As a pastor for 33 years i have bought numerous books on creation, both young and old earth points of view. I couldnt put this book down as it explained the 6 days of creation from an astrophysicist point of view. A bit weighty with so much new data (particularly from Hubble) but if u like that, u will come away praising God for his wisdom and plan. “Creation is all about the redemption of man” is the point. Ross is Physicist, astronomer, teacher and a bit of preacher. Answers a lot of “why’s” in addition to the “how’s” which is where the atheist astronomer falls short. Great read, especially for the intellectual seeker.

Must read
This is a very detailed book, giving the requirements for an inhabitable planet. Dr. Ross shows compelling evidence for a creator, and in particular the creator described in the bible.

Stunning; Jaw Dropping; Humbling
In my opinion, this book ultimately leads the any reader of sound mind to one of only three conclusions: that he (the reader) purposefully wants to ignore that there is a God; or that he (the reader) has been presented with evidence he did not previously know and now needs to reconsider his response; or that he (the reader) now has more reasons to practice his belief in The Creator Who has given innumerable insights and more reasons to believe through this book, than any previous point in history (other than perhaps actually witnessing Christ resurrection himself) and clearly must, must, must be The Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Fantastic book
This is a masterly overview of modern cosmology theory. It is pitched for the technically knowledgeable lay person. It does a great job of bridging a communication divide between science and the real world and between science and theology. The references to original scientific papers are great.
