Hostiles

Man what a story! The acting, the writing, the director, they all brought this to life. It gives a harsh, sad, reality to what those in the old west experienced. We are shown different aspects of what the experiences that these individual endured to become what they are at this time in their lives. Its not pretty, and they carry that burden in their actions.Pop that corn, cuddle up and hang on to your emotions.

This film struck an excellent balance between action and emotion, and used both powerfully. It's hard to say much about the film without spoiling anything, so I will just recommend that you watch it for yourself!(WARNING: SORT-OF-SPOILERS BELOW)I imagine 3 main categories of how different people might react to this film. (1) some people probably think it's offensive to Native peoples and glorifies the mistreatment of them by white settlers. (2) some people probably think it's PC or "woke" and pandering to Native peoples. (3) I am in the third category, and I hope you are too, whoever you are. I think this film is about the importance of treating our fellow human beings like human beings, regardless of our differences and regardless of how we may have hurt each other. In the end, we are all human, death comes to us all, and if you have experienced the loss of a loved one you know that death puts things in perspective and makes you realize many of the things you thought were important weren't actually so important, the most important thing is loving your fellow human beings and being loved by them in return, as best we can.

The Comanches were some of the most terrifying tribes around. Their actions towards the white settlers was a reaction to their lands being invaded. This story is about a Comanche chief, Chief Yellow Hawk, being imprisoned for 7 years and getting cancer. The United States decided that a good faith action would be taken to release Chief Yellow Hawk and his family back to Montana before he dies. Christian Bale plays an army captain tasked with the job of getting them there. The movie tells the story of what all they encountered on their journey to Montana. I liked this movie, recommend it to all western movie lovers.

My all time favorite movie

A telling story. Well acted and gripping to the end. Highly recommended.

This is by far one of my favorite movies! Walks you through all the human emotions.

First lets get the good out of the way. As a Native American I liked that the movie showed the hatred that Natives had for other Natives. The Indian wars the period of American History spanning 1622-1924 yes the last Indian raid was in 1924 SCARY really wasn't just a conflict between Whites and Natives it was a conflict between Natives against Natives and whites against Natives. The hatred between Apache and Comanche, Kiowa and Cheyenne was a huge part of the conflict and something rarely seen on film this movie however does it justice so I applaud them for it. The comradery between Soldiers something that one finds only with men he has shed blood and chewed dirt with is accurately shown the lone Buffalo Soldier is here and you can tell he's no diversity hire picked for the mission because of some quota but rather because he is the best man for the job and it hurts his comrade just as much as him when they have to leave him behind at an aid station these men don't see his color only their friend who they would die for and he would do the same. Also the sheer beauty and emptiness of the American west is here in all its glory so feast your eyes. NOW for the bad HOLY HELL THE HYPER VIOLENCE !!!! Is this a western or a Quentin Tarantino movie?? I mean dear God in their whole trip they meet zero people outside the small towns who don't want to or try to kill them rape them or commit some other horror on them!I mean at one point a group of cowboys basically refuse to follow a signed Presidential order from the US Cavalry?? Don't get me wrong the Cowboys know all about property rights so their not stupid but apparently their civics class ended befor they studied the powers of the Highest office in the land. Its little inconsistency's coupled with the hyper violence of this movie that keep me from giving it 4 stars. I mean come on no body was nice not one PERSON! If the west was this violent we would never have tamed it DEAR GOD the only way it could have been more violent was if they wandered passed the crucifixion and they shot Jesus. 3 stars.Now for the bad HOLY HELL the hyper violence of this movie????

A great western and story of redemption. An excellent movie.

This is one of those films I've wanted to see for a long time. I've recently been working my way through the back catalogue of Christain Bale and as a consequence I watched 3.10 to Yuma (which was also brilliant). This got me into the western genre. Hostiles seemed a natural progression in my list. I wasn't disappointed it is a stunning film in so many ways- the acting from all is perfect, the script moving, poignant and thrilling, the cinematography is beautiful. Hostiles runs at 133min, yet I was so engrossed it seemed shorter. I will definitely be watching this poignant film again. A slight spoiler - the ending is perfect and amazingly acted. So glad Amazon recommended this. It's a film that will stay with me for a long time.

tout est parfait en blu ray; ce western traite un sujet qui n'avait pas encore été filmé ; sujet dur de la réconciliation basée sur 2 protagonistes ( un chef indien cheyenne, un capitaine de l'armée ) qui ont énormément de sang sur les mains ; et lors du périple ils croisent une femme blanche dont la famille a été massacrée par les comanches , pour qui 'un indien est un indien sans distinction ; c'est bien filmé , en décors naturels ; l'histoire est passionnante car il y a beaucoup de péripéties qui prennent place ; excellent bonus

Film molto bello, tiene incollati al divano per gli amanti del genere, lo avevo visto in tv, l'ho acquistato per potermelo riguardare senza interruzioni pubblicitarie.
