Feature Packed GMRS Radio!
The main selling points for me are the USB-C charging, the spare battery, longer antenna, VFO/Memory button, Weather Alert channels pre-programed at channels 190-199, and the FM Radio. It comes properly configured to use all the GMRS simplex channels, as well as repeater channels (will require you to enter the CTSS tone settings to match your desired repeater(s)). Sound quality from the built-in speaker is great. I have no problem hitting my prefered local repeater 5mi away, with good transmission quality reported by other users on the repeater. The body-mounted clip is strong, and acts as a second security feature of the battery in case the unit is dropped. Battery latch has a perfect level of force needed to unlock with finger tips. For GMRS use, this unit is great! Now... there is a way to boot this unit into HAM frequency transmission mode, as well as unlocked mode for both HAM and GMRS transmissions. I would suggest against this for GMRS users...keep it simple, and just leave it in GMRS mode. Of course, as a HAM operator, I just couldn't leave it alone...booted into unlocked mode, synced to my phone via Bluetooth, ran the Odmaster app, selected the "unlocked" version, selected my local repeaters, then sync'd: all it did was wipe out all my memory channels! 😑. The Odmaster app appears to be a third party app. Like any radio utility app, it's going to take some learning and experimenting on my part to make it work for me. Honestly, since the radio works with Chirp, I'll probably use that to re-program my radio...I don't mind using a programing cable to my Windows 10 notebook. So, before I wiped out my memory slots with Odmaster, the radio worked great! I'd suggest against booting into the other modes, and using Odmaster, unless you happen to be a patient HAM operator.

Best radio so far...
This is my favorite radio so far, super clear sound and they have a good distance. The battery lasts long time too. I love that it is Bluetooth capable and the app works like a charm. I highly recommend this radio.

Nice Radios, Good Value, Fast Shipping!
I like them. This was a pretty deluxe kit with two radios, batteries, extra long antenna, stock antennas, and stubby antennas. Very nice to have that selection. Also had earpieces and chargers, instructions, and two lanyards. What more could you ask for, ha! I have only tried them on low power in FRS bands and they work well with my other FRS and one other cheaper GMRS Midland. I just had to look at the frequencies and match them up, but in reality I put the Tidradios on Channel 5 and put my FRS radios on Channel 5 without DCS or CTSS and it works great! I will try them on high power in the other bands soon, but nice to know you can plug in your own frequency or use a repeater if you get permission and get an FCC license, which you need to operate these. I plan to use them for off roading, boating (I would think you can program them to the marine channels 14 and 16), car to car for caravaning, or for just doing work outside when you need to call for someone. I like my nerdy toys, so these are great. They came charged but I put them on the cradles that also come with them and they charged up quickly. I am ordering another couple of them as the price is right and they are just nice to have around or to take on a trip with kids, etc. Overall, I am happy. I did my research and these were pretty highly regarded in the radio community, although the Bao Fengs, Radioddities, and one other brand with a Chinese name, starts with a W are also rated highly. I was happy with the package and Amazon has enough options of any of these brands to get you what you need, up to and including a 5 or 6 pack. Should be great for camping too. Anyway, do your research, then decide, but I have no complaints. Reception is always dependent on where you are, flat terrain or not, in a building or house or car, etc. but these will definitely put your old Family Radio Service (FRS) cheapies to shame. If you use high power, some say on flat terrain you can get up to several miles or more, but have not tested them out. But you can still use the other FRS radios for short range. Fun to get kids interested in radio, teach them about frequencies and how they work, repeaters, theory, etc.

Has Bugs, Customer Service Unresponsive (Updated Review Fixed Bugs)
UPDATE: 06-27-24 . After several attempts to update the firmware, I was able to get the software update to work, I had to HEX edit the software executable in order to get it to run properly. So the software is not written well. BUT the radio is now great, I have no more weird sounds when I key it up, and it no longer makes random "Digital Noises" on every frequency. The sound and distance is excellent. So I can honestly say that this is a good radio as long as it did not come with outdated firmware. Version 230923 of the firmware is the one that is now installed and works perfectly. I will note that TIDRADIO contacted me after my review, So that is a bit disappointing and why its not 5 stars, because I had been trying to get in touch with them for over a week, and the very night my review my posted, I received an email from them asking to help me. Original Review: So I heard so many good things about this radio, from plenty of online reviewers that got this at no cost. I paid for mine to review and have run into several bugs. So I wrote to their customer Service that everyone online says its very responsive, I have yet to receive a response after a week. I am hearing some weird noise when its keyed up, and its been randomly making some "Digital Sound" every few seconds no matter what Frequency I'm on. So Since they my request for assistance went unanswered, I tried to check out if maybe the firmware needed to be updated etc., Downloaded the correct one for my radio from their website, followed the instructions and Nothing... after clicking start, it just sits there, no progress or anything. I tried several times and per the directions to "hold the connection to the radio that connects to the PC without letting go", and it still would not work. So I'm left with no support, and a radio that seems to have some bugs in it, I was hoping to not have to return it, but it seems that I may have no choice, since nothing I do works, and without any guidance from Tidradio themselves, I'm at a loss. Maybe I got a defective Unit based on all the great online reviews I've seen, but either way something is wrong.

Worth getting as a beginner
I am very new to HAM radio and I’ve still have much to learn. I have a baofeng and now this TIDradio TD-H8 about an month now, and I have to say TIDradio TD-H8 is very user friendly; program ability and the wattage and range of the TIDradio TD-H8 is amazing the nice textile feel of the PTT button is great. The TD-H8 is worth getting! Battery last a good amount of time with active use, about 5-7 days with all max power settings using it 3-4 hour a days (note I’m guess here but I got this around 6th of July and I only had to charge it twice). Transmitting and receiving is excellent. It’s very new person friendly and you can reset it from “GRMS” to “HAM” to “normal” which is both. Having a lot of fun and I’m getting great ranges with it. It’s a must have on my ATV list now and for everyday use.

Great radio, great customer service.
Bought this radio about 2 months ago. It’s amazing, clear audio, Bluetooth programming, and an awesome color screen. I use it for work, as well as when I go on off-roading trips with friends. About a week ago, the volume knob stopped working. Radio turned on and off and worked just fine, but was stuck at full blast volume the whole time. I reached out to TIDRADIO’s support email, and they promptly responded and are covering the issue under warranty. It was a very simple process and the radio is already on its way. I didn’t get paid to say anything or leave a review. I simply want to help others know this is a good product, at a good price, with great support especially for an overseas company.

Avoid, Not a Good Radio.
I bought this and I tried to like it but there are just too many issues. The radio will not scan channels in unlocked mode. The software to program it is extremely buggy and frustrating. Sometimes it works and most times I get errors. As for the radio itself, it is poor to okay. The receiver itself is decent but it is not superhet. Sound, ok. It is basically a CCR with usb c charging battery. The battery life is decent. The frustrating part is the the USB C port is on the bottom so you cannot stand it up to charge it. Should have been on the side. I tried to work through some of the issues with customer service but there were just not understanding anything I said. I say put the $70+ toward a better radio.

New version of a great radio at an outstanding price
Radio is great. The second has some key improvements over the previous generation radio. Bluetooth programming from a phone or other device and USB-C charging port for easy charging while mobile. Item arrived in original packaging undamaged. Love this radio and use it daily.
