Fabulous
Finally. More proof that simplicity is the driver of functional design. If your need is to cover nominally measured 4x4 wooden posts (only) and simultaneously provide a bit of solar accent lighting to your railed space with no mechanical fuss, these are your post lamps. Beautifully simple, they slip over the post just snugly enough to be secure, yet easy to remove should you need to change out a rechargeable cell; (the only consumable component for any of these outdoor solar products). The genius use of the clear polycarbonate "lens-sleeve" as a fiberoptic, transmits light down on four sides, distributing it slightly outward by way of a simple bevel cut on the sleeve's lower edge. This is not light to read by, but smartly provides a lovely low ambient glow that will keep you and your guests from tripping in the dark - assuming space-needs, and multiple lamps. They look to be sturdy and well designed enough to resist climate leakage near commonly vulnerable topside solar-panel seams.Time will tell. So far, we love them.

Does not fit a 4x4 post!
We would like to give this product five stars, which it would deserve if it was manufactured to the correct size. Instead, it is about a 1/4" too small for a standard 4x4 post. Rather than returning them, we opted to share a 1/4" off of two sides of the post to accommodate the lights. I would not recommend this approach unless you are prepared to spend some time on each post to customize a fit.Edit: I had to drop this review to one-star. Besides being incorrectly sized, the bonding between the solar cell and body has failed on every unit allowing water to penetrate the electronics. I would not recommend purchasing this product. All unit have now failed in less than a year.

Great product at low price...watch out for returns sold as new
These post caps are inexpensive, simple, and functional. My deck is (imho) elegant in its simplicity and spartan approach, so I wanted post lights that were similarly styled and understated. These are perfect. Now, for the reasons (two) they don't get five stars...1) As many other customers have commented, these caps are a tight fit. You need to check the ACTUAL dimensions of your posts before you order, and if they are any larger than 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", don't bother with these...they won't fit.2) The seller (in my case, at least) re-sold returned merchandise as "new". How do I know this? Because one of the two lights in my kit had the battery-saver strip removed, and the protective film over the solar panel had been removed and replaced. The battery in this light is noticeably weaker in output than the unused light, and will need to be replaced immediately. Not worth returning the product, since they only cost $20 and are just what I was looking for, but poor customer service and very annoying.

Just a great post solar cap!
I’ve been waiting to write a review on these because I just wasn’t sure at first. We bought a few different posts to try out because I was certain I wanted a more decorative post cap, but these were exactly what we wanted and just didn’t know it! We’ve had these now for almost 2 months, the lighting is great, and the caps are the perfect touch I needed to bring out our black rails. We’ve got a lot of compliments on the caps! You won’t be disappointed! And they don’t have to screw down and stay on perfectly! Used for 4x4 red cedar posts.

Great Lights, lousy fit
These may fit your pressure treated 4x4 post, but probably won't without modification of post. 4x4 pressure treated posts are approximately 3.5x3.5. if the post was true and square, these lights would fit. but we are talking about WOOD product cut, then treated under pressure with liquid. the wood will swell to different dimensions.i was prepared to send them back. upon first light ;) the posts were between 1/16 and 1/8 too large. the question is how to shimmy the end of the post down enough to fit the light over it. the best answer i came up with was to SAND the post using a BELT SANDER. fortunately, i had one available with some coarse sandpaper. worked well enough that my five posts took about 35 min to prepare for the lights.they look great and work great. get plenty of winter sun to light for many hours. they are more attractive than many of the alternatives, all which seemed too gross for my liking.if you can modify your post, you will be pleased. if you are lucky enough not to modify the post, you should be more pleased.

Praiseworthy
I bought this product as a test for driveway lighting. I found the product to be well engineered, beautiful, elegant and simple in design. The polycarbonate surround lens should last many years. The lumens output was as described.I installed Eneloop batteries which will outlast the batteries supplied. I easily get 9 hours of lighting. I installed the light on a 1.5"x3.5"x1.5" wood block by cutting a 3 1/2" piece off a 2x4 framing stud. I glued the wooden block to two bricks costing 40 cents each. I then inserted the light over the block of wood which was essentially my post. One of the original lights failed but it was quickly replaced by the vendor. I am so pleased with these that I have ordered more. I can not really address the issue of longevity since i have had the lights for less than 1 week but the design is such that I believe that the weather will not cause problems. This is my best guess.

Solar panel issues, but well worth the price.
These little lights are great, especially if you are in a very sunny location. The first 6 to 8 months they worked perfectly even when we had some cloudy days here and there. Obviously, they don't work all that great during the winter when there just isn't much sun. After about 8 months I noticed the solar panel starting to look cloudy and after a year they were completely opaque looking. The surface is actually no longer smooth almost like it is oxidized. On sunny days they still work for about 5 hours each night. All and all, I would buy them again and see if I could apply something to the panel to prevent the oxidation. We are almost 2 years in and they are well worth the price for what you get.

Great lights.
Very easy to install...work great...cannot comment on longevity as they are new this season.
