This is the one with all the answers
Finds a great balance between gore, humour, character development and mind bending scifi. Can't wait to finish the next two volumes.

Book four in the series of paperbacks that collect issues of the comic Paper Girls. The story of four young girls in 80's America caught up in strange happenings that are taking them across time. This collects issues 16-20 of the comic, using the covers as chapter pages, so you can easily see where one issue ends and the next begins. As usual, there are adult moments and strong language and some violence, so it's only for grown up readers. And there's no exposition at all for new readers, who would get hopelessly confused very quickly, so they should start with volume one.Picking up from the end of the last book, this one starts with Tiffany finding herself on jan 1st, in the year 2000. Where the Y2K bug has been even worse that in was in all those doomsday predictions that were made about it beforehand. And where giant robots, that not everyone can see, battle in the street.Answers are found. But their troubles aren't over yet.As ever, great artwork and strong character writing follow. But what's great with this volume is the answers. You finally get to know exactly what the heck it is that is going on. And this isn't answering questions to set up more mysteries, it's genuine answers. Some details still remain to be ironed out, but know you know the central plot of all this.So it is great to read a story which progresses to that level, and has clearly had this all worked out from the beginning. On the character side, there are interesting scenes as the girls have to deal with impending adulthood and leaving childhood behind, and one of them gets a look at what the future might hold. And what regrets it might bring. In a manner that might set you thinking along similar lines.Once again, there's a really great cliffhanger. An excellent read in a superb series. Roll on book five

This series is amazing, the only down side is the time between volumes in the UK.

I've Fallen for the Paper Girls
I take it back! I don’t like Mac’s character anymore. I could not deal with her being so rude and terrible in this book.We have a character coming out in this book, and different reactions to their revelation of identity. And that does mean we are getting some LGBT+ rep. There are some homophobic comments, so be ready for that too! I appreciate how the plot is still firmly focused on the science-fiction, but these modern day relevant topics are coming up.At long last we are finally getting some answers in this one! Finally, everything that has happened makes sense. Now I am motivated and intrigued enough to continue. It really shouldn’t have taken until the fourth volume for us to get to this point though. The artwork and palette was okay in this one. These books are out of my comfort zone. They are weird and random. I think I like them anyway. This review and others can originally be found on Olivia's Catastrophe.

Awesome comic
Things are beginning to click into place within this comic and I am really enjoying it. I love how bold each girl is and I like how different they all are. I think the story is really cool and I love the illustrations and the colours. I'm really looking forward to the next issue but I'm sad I will have to wait so long! I would definitely recommend this. It may be a bit confusing at the start, but once you get to vol 2 or 3, it is so worth it!

You finally start getting into the meat of this story, learning about the war and where it started as well as getting to know some more personal information about our heroines. Brian K Vaughan has an excellent pace and keeps the story flowing at just the right speed while be able to introduce our main characters, the world they live in, and the colorful people that inhabit it.
