I don’t think reviewers and buyers know that….
I scrolled the top reviews and noticed that not one of them mentioned what this product contains and how the contents make it work and why the product smell is strong, nor why some people aren’t fans of the smell. I ordered this polish because it’s fairly cheap and comes ready to use for removing light rust from otherwise good condition chrome on my 1981 Honda CB650. Upon opening it I immediately knew what the solvent smell was. This NEVR-DULL is nothing more than a cotton material to polish with that is soaked in MINERAL SPIRITS, an oil based solvent normally used in conjunction with oil based paint and primers (as opposed to water based paint and primer know as latex paint). Mineral Spirits is commonly called “Paint Thinner” as well and can be used for a variety of things but mostly used for thinning oil paint aka enamel paint used on interior home trim, baseboards, chair railing, crown molding, and interior doors, and is known for its durability and shine/sheen. It’s also used to thin paint before being used in a spray rig that would be used to spray cabinet doors for kitchens, etc. Mineral spirits is used for cleanup as well for any drops landing where they aren’t supposed to be and for cleanup on the spray rig. I say this because now that I know it’s just mineral spirits aka paint thinner, I know it will work great to remove light rust on my motorcycle’s chrome exhaust, front forks, and rear springs, etc. It does in fact add a bit of protection to prevent future rust but since 100% of people who use this product will also need to wipe it back off using a clean dry cloth and at that point the protection is pretty minimal. It will still protect the metal from rust but for a quite limited amount of time and a very limited amount of exposure to any liquids or water. I’m mentioning this to recommend an actual protective product such as ceramic coating (something like Chemical Guys ceramic coating) or even better, using an acrylic coating/sealant called “Klasse Sealant Glaze” to give lengthy protection time. Don’t even try to cheap out and use any type of carnauba wax as a protectant, like Turtle Wax or whatever. It will help to clean it up if you do and those waxes have lots of use cases but they do NOT protect from contaminants, water spots, tree saps or insect explosions, oxidation, staining, UV, iron, brake pad dust, and whatever else. This NEVE-DULL polishing product is great and the fact that it’s simple and uses a common solvent is a good thing given it’s also quite inexpensive. I use this product initially to clean up chrome and then follow it up with a less abrasive polish that doesn’t contain solvents, then I use a ceramic or acrylic sealant to protect. After the sealant you can use the carnauba wax to deepen the shines of paint and chrome. I’m actually going to be spraying my chrome engine cover plates that are facing outwards on all motorcycle engines with Duracoat Clear Coat after I clean them up and shine them up with this NEVR-DULL. So, I’m happy with this stuff and it’s got a great use case for motorcycles and vehicles.

Unbeatable Polish for Brass, Chrome, and Military Memorabilia!
The Best Wadding Polish—Makes Metal Shine Like New! I purchased Nevr-Dull specifically for polishing a very special item: my USMC 105mm round that was turned into a cigar ashtray. This polish exceeded all expectations! Ease of Use: It was incredibly easy to use. The wadding is pre-treated, so you just pull off a piece and start rubbing. It quickly removes tarnish and oxidation with minimal effort. Results: It left the casing smooth and gave it a mirror-like, brilliant shine, making the piece look brand new. Value: There is lots inside the can, meaning this single container will last for many polishing sessions. If you need a reliable, high-quality polish for complex metal objects like classic car chrome, brass, or military hardware, this is absolutely the product to get. I enthusiastically recommend this polish!

Great product. Used this in the Navy and it’s as good now as it ever was. Works great on motorcycle chrome wheels, with or without spokes.

GREAT for Brass - OK for Copper
Instructions are simple - just rub with the wool until tarnish is off, then buff with a dry cloth. The dry cloth part might seem optional, but it’s what takes it from "huh that’s a pretty good shine" to blinding-levels. Which is nice since it gives versatility in leaving it at a more muted color, or super high polish. It works EXCELLENTLY with brass, but with copper I find a cream based polish is best. I included a comparison photo. NevrDull gave a result on copper that would be the equivalent of a couple weeks - a month of tarnish. But using Mauviel CopperBrill gave the copper that brand-spanking new factory pink shine. Mauviel is expensive so I assume Wright’s or other cream-based copper polish brands would work just as well. It’s my first time buying so can’t compare the dryness to what it might be like bought in store (so likely a fresher batch). The wool at the top definitely seemed dryer than when I’d used up those bits and gotten to the ones beneath, but it still worked the exact same. All in all, I’m very happy as it’s a super affordable price and goes a long way (I keep using the wool until it’s absolutely jet black - if it’s not gotten to that point, I’ll pop it back in the tin for another day.) I have lots of brass items, so it’s great for things like lamps you don’t want to get wet. I’d still use it for copper as first step only if the item was extremely tarnished, and then follow up with a polishing cream. For light to moderate tarnish, it’s not worth the effort I just wish they formulated this as a cloth or pad which would be SO much easier as the wool is rather cumbersome to use. But regardless this will definitely be a continuous purchase for me

Been using this product for years since it works so well and is so versatile. The price has jumped exponentially in the last years though! However, it went on sale and I purchased it right away! The product is so easy to use to clean/polish metal. I use it on wheels, exhaust components, my BBQ, and any other metal surface that's in rough shape. You can also use it to polish your headlights and it does a great job at clearing them up (but the effect doesn't last very long). If you have metal things around the house that are looking bad, this product will definitely help clean them up and make them shiny(er) again!
