Room for Rent

well written, engaging from the start, easy read with just a few caveats
From the first page, Noelle grasps your interest and leaves you longing to know what happened. I only found one grammatical error (that was really just me being extra). (“… head over heels, hook, line, and sinker.” It was too much, could’ve just chosen one phrase to get the message across.) The ending was perfection. It played out like a Lifetime movie in my mind. She was descriptive without overdoing it.My only caveat is that I am personally a nurse, (and although it was clear she did do research on the medical/anatomy side of things) this author does not understand what it is to be a registered nurse. So if you are medical, it will distract you out of the story to see that part so butchered. 1) Registered nurses don’t just go to a state university and get a “diploma” and go straight to the hospital to work. Nursing school is intensive and hard, we usually get a degree if a university is attended. (I attended a private nursing school and got a diploma, so it could’ve been a correct term had she not stated that Nya was at a university.) And the NCLEX (our licensing exam) is what we spend all of our time in school agonizing over. You cannot be a registered nurse unless you pass it. She basically said nya was gonna graduate from a university, go to another state and just start working on a hospital. What?? Is it even a compact state?? This author doesn’t know and sure didn’t look into it! Therefore, it made Nya’s story unbelievable to me. 2) I have taken so many science classes and know tons of nurses, doctors, and the like- and I could not believe that she was in a make-out session thinking those thoughts… pulled me right out of it. 3) I know Nya was struggling with her faith - but it was not believable that she was wanting to “give the finger” to her old church and sleep with someone she wasn’t attracted to- that was far too hurried in writing. 3) I owe 70K in student loans - I get the poverty mentality, I’m not sure not eating a lick of fruits or vegetables is believable here either. And without proper sleep and nutrition there is NO chance she got a 3.9GPA.Whew. Those things were gnawing at me! She did so good with the rest of it! I haven’t finished a book in awhile because I can’t get into a lot of stories- but this one I wanted to know more. And this author painted a picture that kept me interested. The details were spot on. The illnesses described perfectly.I’ve give it a B+! The only thing that would’ve made it better is if she researched nursing itself. (I bet if I wasn’t a nurse, it wouldn’t have annoyed me so much. Lol!)

I loved this book, the main character was so inspirational
I adore reading about women who pursue their dreams and goals against all odds. Such is Nya, a young girl estranged from her deeply religious family, who goes into the world with a dream of getting an education and becoming a nurse. The book is intriguing and scary enough. Characters well developed and action fast paced. I was fortunate to figure part of the ending... But hey, I almost always guessed the murderer in all Agatha Christie's books. It's quite rewarding if the reader is given subtle clues that allow him to try and solve the puzzle. No matter how many red herrings are thrown the reader's way. Nowadays, the endings are a total surprise, but one wasn't given enough basic facts and the author had the upper hand all along. Are we part of the investigation or not? I would rather classify the book as a psychological thriller than a horror. It had a decent psychological background and I loved how Nya believed in herself and fought for herself all along. I will definitely check other books by the author, as I find her writing style quite simple and appealing. Sometimes reading Kindle thriller samples makes me so tired and depressed, so it's nice to find an author who makes your existence lighter and your world less scary. By taking you as an observer into another person's nightmare... You will root for Nya all way long, I promise. She proves that strength of character means so much more than all the money and connections in the world. And that your real family doesn't have to be tied to you by blood. Your soul makes you chose people you want close and you're happy with.

Entertaining, though predictable
Room for Rent was an enjoyable read, though I felt the author definitely telegraphed their punches. Nya was a likable, sympathetic character, but her naiveté does strain the limits of credulity. The reveals were suitably horrifying, and the ending was satisfying enough.

Finished in less than a day!
This book was recommended to me by a creator on TikTok. I had not sat down and read a book cover to cover in YEARS. This book kept me glued to the couch! The suspense grew with each page I turned. I loved it and will be now be purchasing more of Noelle’s books.

Predictable
A very easy read and story flowed. Author is very descriptive. I could almost smell the smells and feel the weather. Story was very predictable however.

Not worth it.
Was looking for a good psychologically read. I figured out the worse bad guy in the library when he was introduced. I didn’t know how he was doing it until the end. Which is the main reason I finished it. Once I figured out who the bad guy was, I left the creepy factor. By the way, yes it’s who you think it is.Nya is portrayed as a poor & very sheltered ex-member of a cult. But she’s smart enough for nursing college but dumb enough not to listen to the many voices in her head telling her to run. Or don’t take food from a stranger.Author must love the phrase “suck it up buttercup”. Because she over uses it. In fact she uses a lot of the same phrases over and over. Not my least favorite book but bottom 5 for sure. Positive is it’s a quick read

kept me guessing till the end
Was a good read! A good thriller that was raw and emotional! Some chapters were a little long, but other than that it flowed well.

What?
The Mc got distracted soooo many damn times, like dude just fricken get out. However, I did predict the twist (it was a theory I had from the first little bit of foreshadowing in the library). Overall good book

Gripping!
I loved Run on Red and the author did not disappoint me with this one! Gripping from the first page, it was difficult to put the book down! Last few pages will give you adrenaline rush and make you root for Nya, the strong protagonist! Can't wait for the new release of the author 😃

Another great book by this great Author!!
Loved this book, it reminded me of the days when I rented rooms, where the only bad thing that occurred was when another tenant would use all the hot water!! Unlike this story....An interesting complex tale, without any spoilers, I took an instant dislike to the girl's housemate but felt a little sorry for him later...I will recommend this book!!Now onto the next one, without delay😊

Decent, but not great
First, the decent: The author can write clearly and pays attention to plot elements enough that no part will make you doubt the action characters take. Also, the story is edited well enough that you won’t be rolling your eyes in frustration over how “this” was even published. There is even a free short “story” to download to read once you’ve finished the main story; it would not have fitted into the story without dragging the plot or giving away too much information, but it is a good piece to read afterward for clarification. The “not great”: too much of the story seems predictable, obvious. But you still want to see how it plays out.
