Worst setup but it works
Would you believe if I told you that it nearly took me 2 days to figure out how to get the setup completed! Well it did!1. Belkin work on making your app neat! It's sluggish.2. I searched on google for links to reset the light switch and it took me 2 days to find the right link. One said 5 secs an another said 1 and 3-4 secs the second one is right. Even though the light will flash using the 5 secs tip the link won't show the bulb. Here is the correct link http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?articleNum=116178If you guys do not want to spend or waste time figuring out why the bulbs do not show up on Wemo Link, follow these simple steps.1. Hold the restore button while plugging in the Wemo Link, hold till it starts flashing amber. [This step resets the Wemo Link and lets you configure the app from the start.2. Install the app on your phone, do not launch the app.3. For android users (not sure about IOS), go into WiFi settings, choose advanced settings and turn off "Scanning always available"4. It normally takes about 3-4 minutes for the Wemo Link to show up on the WiFi list, once it does connect to the Wemo WiFi, it would be something like Wemo.Link.XXX where XXX is the last 3 digits of the Mac address5. Once connected, open the App and follow the steps, you will need to put in your wifi password so that the Wemo Link can connect to the router.6. Once the Wemo Link is connected it will show that the remote management has been setup and it will scan for the bulbs, you could close the app now.7. Screw the bulb(s) into the lamp(s)8. Reset the bulb(s) http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?articleNum=116178. It will flash if the reset is successful.9. Open the app and search for the bulb, both the bulbs will show up.10. Add the bulbs as shown in the app.- These steps were written in this manner taking reset steps into account since it seems that the bulbs may have been setup to other Wemo Links etc or the Wemo Link's being connected to other routers.- ***IMPORTANT***Once the Wemo Link is setup it will stop flashing, you needn't connect to it again directly, actually it will stop showing up on WiFi scans. So just connect to your home WiFi, open the Wemo app and scan for new devices (settings under add a Wemo device)

Not Echo Compatible, but decent beyond that.
First, this is NOT compatible with the Amazon Echo alone. Shop from the Echo App under compatible devices. The wall switch that is compatible with this set is supposedly also compatible with the Echo, but that is just too many layers of managing to make it worth while. With that said, the product itself is not bad. Following the instructions on the box I was able to get the system up and running in about 5 minutes (4 of that was the app looking for more bulbs than the two it detected right away). But I noticed that to set it up, the device you plug is acts as a temporary network, an OPEN one at that. So if you have nosy neighbors and plug that in without setting it up rather quickly, anyone can tune into it, attach it to their network, and done. Although its a light concern if you are going to set it up right after plugging it in.The bulbs were very bright and a great warm shade of light without making the room look sterile. For an LED bulb though these get very hot (as hot as an incandescent) within the 5 minutes I had them on to setup the app.The App itself is rather clumsy and the User Interface is OK. Some menu's got a bit lost in themselves and I had to use the back button on my phone as opposed to a back button in the app (worrying that I would accidentally exit the app in the middle of a setup). So bottom line, if this is the first "automated" system you are getting, its decent. For the price you pay it worked for me and the app on the phone did control the bulbs but didn't seem to customizable outside of bulb on, bulb off (I didn't see anywhere to setup a "group" as my light fixtures each have two bulbs, so one room = 2 bulbs, but even if the app had it I wanted it for my Echo). If you are getting this because of the Echo compatibility you MUST get the switch (Belkin's site had very very basic instructions on connecting devices on their site, leading me to thing Belkin just slapped a device or two on the Echo to boost sales).

Simple to install, serves purpose, however, the setup and app could be improved
I ordered this product when it was launched. The setup was simple, but not perfect:- install the light bulbs and flip the light switches on- plug the controlling wemo module- install the wemo app on your smartphone (I tested it on my ipad mini)- connect your smartphone with the controlling wemo module- fire up the app and have it find the bulbs --> this is what failed initially, the app was unable to find any products in range (it took a second attempt (cancel, restart) to have the two supplied bulbs pairedAfter a bit, the app suggested to run a firmware update of the bulbs which I accepted in hope of better connection/pairing.Within the app, you can set on/off and brightness of each bulb individually. Further, and this is what I wanted, you can set up rules for each bulb (it seems to be unlimited on/off times) for each day. The way it is presented resembles old feature phone alarm clocks. You select the bulb, you enter the 'on' time, you select the days, you name the rule and you save it. Same procedure for setting turning off rules. What I do not understand is why this cannot be implemented in a simpler fashion. I guess I am just too used to better UX.In summary:PRO- fair price- works as promised- allows detailed control (brightness, dim, on/off) of every light bulb individually and in groups- plugs into the standard light-bulb socket (no external power supply for each lamp)CONS- setup (failed to recognize the bulbs the first time around)- subpar app UXI am happy with the product so far. I will update this review in a couple of months to reflect any changes.

Am a bit sad because I had great hopes for these lights but ...
Very exited about buying these lights. They plugged in, turned on but several hours of intense research, trouble-shooting and repeated attempts left them unable to make a wifi connection. Most suggestion and help required resetting or bypassing the security settings on the wifi which I was not keen on doing. Almost all mentioned that they would only connect to wifi that had a simple numeric and alphabet character only password. I don't know, because not even that worked. I have no idea how well the app itself functions as I never got to see it. I would not recomend these until the (well known) connectivity issues are known to be solved and a bit of a track record established. They appear to be based on closed source code and hardware which is a major point against them security-wise. Or at least it was not made evident as it is in competitive brands. Am a bit sad because I had great hopes for these lights but the frustration factor is huge. They'll need to step it up and meet the base line of the competition before I consider looking at them again.

Okay, but not as good as the Philips ones.
This worked alright for the first few months I've owned them (with fairly frequent disconnects and such, though manageable still). The final straw, unfortunately, came when I accidentally turned the switch off then on again - one of the bulb flat out short-circuited and fried (I could smell smoke). This was very disappointing! I changed to the Philips version and haven't experienced any problems since (0 disconnects). The direct ethernet connection definitely proved more stable than WeMo's wifi based bridge!

Disappointed. Not work well with IFTTT.
I am quite disappointed at this product. Every time, a firmware update is pushed to the Link and lights, it will take forever for it to complete, after multiple failed attempts (I am still waiting for the latest update, 83, to complete after two days). I bought it to work with Ring using IFTTT, which is even more disappointing. The IFTTT applet can only turn off the light, but can never turn on the lights. And it would take sometimes 15 minutes for the IFTTT applet to fire. Thus, if you want to use IFTTT with this product, consider whether you can live with the delay of events.

Good pair of Smart Bulbs
These bulbs are great. The work as advertised and I used them daily. My only issue with it was the initial setup, it took way longer then it should have. It had a hard times discovering the 2 bulbs, at times it would connect to one and not the other and other times it would find either of them. But other then that after the initial set up everything works smoothly.

Awesome product, easy to setup.
I now have 4 different Wemo products in my house including 6 light bulbs. I had no issues at all setting any of the products up. I have been reading that quite a few people have had issues setting them up. We do sell them at our store and the only people that have had problems are Bell customers using Bells lacklustre modem/router combo devices.I have used TP-Link and Linksys routers and have never had any connection issues. Sometimes I do have to close the app and restart it, but that happens with a lot of apps. Overall I am very happy with the Wemo product.
