These look really smart in use, only time will tell if the fabric cord with which they are wrapped becomes loose, as one or two other reviewers have noted. They are a little bigger than I expected, both the length of the cord and the ball-shaped ends. The cord is flexible but to a degree stiff, so more or less retains whatever shape you form it into. The magnets are very powerful, but no magnet will hold through very thick lined curtains - and anyway, I don't think they are designed for one end to be one side of the curtain and the other end the other side. The magnets simply connects the two ends together, and they provide a very firm grip. You could try using these without a hook behind the curtains to support the cord, but the tiebacks may then slip down the curtain - I think it will depend how much bulk of curtain you have, and therefore how tight the tiebacks grip the curtain when fixed in place. My curtains (across my front door to save energy in winter!) are naturally not very wide, and so I have fitted hooks behind mine, just like you'd have for traditional tiebacks. The advantage with these is that they are still easier to open and close - with the traditional tieback, you have to reach behind to unhook one end. With these the fastening at the front makes them very easy to open/close. I ordered in blue, grey and gold to decide which suited my curtains best. I can confirm that the grey definitely looks silver as I suspected; it's more of a gun metal silver than very bright, but the fabric coating is shiny and this gives the appearance of silver. The gold is quite a warm gold colour. The blue ones which I kept are a very rich darker blue, they look very classy. Very happy for now - let's hope they last! [not sure why 'lightweight' is one of the three features Amazon is asking me to rate - 'easy to use' and 'value for money' make sense, but something like sturdy/durable would surely be a better choice?]

They look lovely, have strong magnets and easy to adjust based on your curtains thickness. I’ve received great compliments.

A very convenient product of very good quality. I had initially purchased these for my living room, and have loved the convenience they provide. These are now in every room in the house :). The magnets are strong enough to hold the position of the curtains and also add to the look. A variety of colors helps match them across designs.

I bought these tie backs in grey. There is no doubt that they look good and you can position the two ways, either with the magnetic baubles facing front or hidden behind the curtains. Either way,they look good. My issue is that the thread that is bound around the baubles on one of mine has come unravelled and is just dangling. This is no major headache as I prefer the baubles behind the curtain so no one can see it. I would rate it higher but for this problem

I bought a couple of these a while ago and they are great. 18 months later I could use another set for my living room and they are now not as good. Really disappointed by that. The cord is less thick, but the biggest difference are the magnets. The old ones stick very well, the new ones don't. I use them mostly through the curtains, so the magnets don't touch directly. This is to hold the curtains slightly open, that works very well with the older ones, the new ones just fall off. For thick curtains I no longer recommend them.
