Superb satnav
I had the Rider 40 so I know how good TomTom are. But the wifi and Bluetooth on the 500 make it a perfect bike satnav. Very happy with it.

Twisty road options 😁
Bought for an up coming tour of Scotland, fitted perfectly, easy too use, quick and easy to remove from mount when bike not in full view.

Navigate to a DIFFERENT satnav.
It's hard to put into words just how much I hate this satnav. It is physically well built and the enclosed Ram mounts work well. (Although I did have to buy an additional piece so I could fit it to my bike). Wiring was easy. Now for the cons. It's slow. Very slow. The maps do not start reacting for a while after you start your ride. Sometimes, the map freezes only to react again after a few minutes.A number of features simply do not work: audible speed warning, Google voice connection, other audible warnings. The user interface is poor and unintuitive. The control system is poorly designed. Apparently, when you have designed a route, you have to click RIDE, even though you may not be going yet. Saved routes disappear.Search facility is poor. I rarely find what I'm looking for on my first attempt. I haven't tried postcodes yet.Maps lack place name details. To cancel a route while riding, you have to access the menu system instead of clicking a button.Google maps on my smartphone is so much better than this satnav. I wish I had gone with the Garmin equivalent. Instead, I've wasted more than £330 on this unfit for purpose piece of garbage.

Doesn't seem to be compatible with my helmet headset
Not sure about this one! Received very quickly (thanks Amazon), packaged well, the unit looks very robust and it's quick - certainly a lot, lot quicker than the Rider 42 which this is meant to replace.HOWEVER, the TT500 doesn't seem to be compatible with my Sena 3S-W headset - the TomTom 'sees' the headset and starts pairing but doesn't complete and I've left it going for some time so I don't know whether it's an incompatibility issue or whether I'm doing something wrong but it's strange that my older TomTom (the Rider 42) does sync easily to the headset but the 500 does not. I have already paired my iPhone XS Max with the satnav, no problem. I did check on the TT website (after I'd purchased this!) and the 3S-W is not listed as a compatible device so I think I've answered my own question! I have also tried un-pairing, re-pairing, resetting my headset and SatNav and still no joy - aaaaaaahhhh, I so wanted to like this device and for it to work seamlessly with my headset. I think I will have to send it back to Amazon - unless one of you lovely folks out there can give me any advice and/or pointers because the 500 looks like a great device but if I cannot pair it with my headset, then it's useless for me!? Thanks for reading this.17th December 2018 - UPDATE: It was clearly me being stupid, this IS compatible with my headset, clearly I wasn't compatible with the SatNav and was missing a step in the process of setting it all up so all good - fact, accurate, good screen etc.. - treat yourself!

Indispensable working UberEats.
Only one bad point: I've had this for over a year and it has yet to connect to the TomTom update server. Got password but it ways says it can't connect, wherever I am. However, roadworks etc are updated. Some of the speed limits are wrong as are some directions, particularly on tight or complicated multi-lane junctions. Also, house numbers are often ignored and replaced by something nearby but all in all a very good purchase without which I couldn't do delivery work.

Top product with a couple of niggles, otherwise great for bike and car!
Great user friendly product which I use in the car too; just what I expect from Tomtom. Downsides; took me ages to set up the hands free with my phone, which may have been my error, but why can we only update via Wi-fi? This is fine but it seems to time out with the large updates. Need to leave it plugged into my pc for these so why not allow download of updates? Again may just be me. Overall though very happy, easy to see in all lights and works with my winter gloves. Shame the anti theft bits so expensive, but worth it for peace of mind on day out rides.
