Picky but worth it
I've got 2 of these running parallel showing my sundown audio 5k 1ohm the my amp draw is 350ish amps, at 13.5v so I am actually putting 5000 watts into 2 of these and I do it every day, 45 minutes at a time. Here's the thing. If your potted box is too big, if your port is to big. If you don't give this sub the proper back pressure in the box. Your going to cook it. I built each sub it's own box, exactly the size the pair that comes with the sub says, I used the larger option. I'm sure In a sealed box you can make it bigger. These subs are rated at 1250rms take my 2500 watts of pure punishment and have done it for 8 months so far, they hit 156 db in my 4runner but like I said if you over power then like I do, make sure you have sub sonic protection, I cross mine over at 50hz with a 18db slope. I'm all honestly I hardly ever turn then up to over 148db... I just can't see straight at the higher volume. The recommended box tunes these to 29 Hz . My steering wheel, peddles, wiper blades are bouncing around to much to drive. I've got 8" apocalypse getting 250watts for mid bass, and 200watts into 2 neo 6.5" midbass Dayton audio, and 200 watts 2 6.5" nvx separates and 50 watts into nvx 3.5" mid range. And honestly I need more mid range to keep up with the bass. Using a Dayton audio DSP unit and a taramps line driver to push 7volts into the RCA to the amps. My only wish is I had room for 2 more. When I cook these coils (and obviously I will at double the rms power) I'm just going to get the holees. I'm sold, earthquake for ever. Some tips to keep these running1) subsonic filters2) crossover at 50hz3) Use the exact box size recommended4) don't use crappy amps like skar, get a quality sundown audio, def bonce,down4sound amp.5) boost your vehicle voltage to 13.5-15v and upgrade your alternator and add an extra battery and super caps. Don't clip your amp. Ever..6) see #5!!If your spending $600 on a sub spend that on a quality amp to protect your subsIf your going to spend 600 on a amp, spend that on a power system upgrade in your car to protect that amp. If you can't afford the power upgrade, and the quality amp, don't buy these subs. Go but some boss and mtx so when you write a bad review you dont sound like the idiot that thought a cheap skar amp on a stock charging system would be ok, and blamed his mistakes on the speakers, not on the clipping that amp is notorious for killing subs and never hitting half the rated power even in a good power system.

UPDATED-Stupid loud on the really low notes
UPDATE - After maybe 8 or so hours of play-time, at half RMS, it has developed some coil rub. Only at low volume, and even then not all the time. But it does not make me confident that my $500 subwoofer is long for this world. Worse yet, the company, which claims to respond to support requests within 24 hours, has yet to respond. I tried to reach out well over a week ago, maybe 2, and nothing. Great sub while it lasted, but I certainly don't trust a company who either has a non-existent support center, or a support center that just doesn't care about their customers. Currently looking to replace it, but I can't return to Amazon as I bought it too long ago (wasn't able to install it till around a month after I got it) and I can't in good conscience sell a sub that could up and die at any moment...*******Original Review********I have the 15 in a 4cu/ft box tuned to 33hz. On the really low notes it is incredibly loud, even on "just" the 600ish watts its getting right now while I let it loosen up. Very punchy too, so good on rock songs as well as rap/hip-hop. In my enclosure it doesn't hit the higher notes super hard, but that is to be expected, so I am looking to get a small mid-bass to add to this. This replaced a 15 inch American Bass XFL, and sure this is twice the price, but its at least as loud on 600 watts as the XFL was on 1500, while also hitting the low notes WAY harder.

Coil rub after about 2 days

As mentioned in the other review about coil rub... But if you get a good one they can be a gem.
It arrived and I pulled it out of it's box for checking for clearance issues before pulling tsp's, it buzzed from coil rub so badly I didn't even try to pull the TSP's/EM's. What a let down. 2 layer soft spider and misalignment issues seem to be overly common on these drivers. Listed specs are not accurate. Coil is 3" diameter and 2.25" winding height. Motor is a dual 1" slug with 1/2" topplate similar to a tc9 but bumped back plate like atomic uses. Think tc9 meets Manhattan. Motor has a depth of 3.1" from topplate to back plate recess. So, 2.25-.5 = 1.75. 1.75/2 = .875 (22.225mm 1 way xmax) so Xmech then becomes 43.815mm given the coil is moving linear and not misaligned.
