Packed with useful suspension info - a must for any caterham, westfield or locost owner
A well structured book packed with useful information. It took two reads to digest it all and I was amazed how many tips and pointers I'd missed the first time through. It covers everything from the basics of handling and brakes to simple ways to balance a car and set the suspension with only simple tooling. Very much focussed towards 7's in all forms, with separate chapters for live axle and independent cars. I keep referring back to this as the go-to reference when setting up my own car because its delivery is so clear and unambiguous.I did also buy another suspension book from the kindle store around the same time (high performance handling by Don Alexander) and I'm happy to say Des Hammills book is leagues ahead in terms of content. If you want just one book to cover 7/caterham/westfield/locost suspension then this is it.

Great read but there are better books out there.
Having never set up my suspension on my kit car before I was looking for all the information I could get my hands on. I bought this and another book on how to make your car handle and felt this was the poorer of the 2 books. Des Hamill is a knowledgeable person but his writing style makes it difficult to get at the information he repeats himself and often wanders off topic into another area and after a while it becomes frustrating that you can't get to the answers you need quickly. Once you do get through to the subject at hand he has some very helpful explanations and his method for corner weighting a car should be relatively accurate and incredibly locost! As the title says it is a useful book but there are better suspension books available.
