Not much to tell. Its a piece of leather and polishing compound. The "rough" side does appear to be some sort of cloth glued to the leather. Works as intended.

The media could not be loaded. I paired this strop with a cheap diamond sharpening plate set and it got my cheap Amazon basic chisels to a razor sharp finish. It isn't very thick but most people will mount this on a piece of wood or something so that doesn't really matter. Works very well, comes with honing compound which is a huge bonus and it's very easy to use. Overall just about the best value for the money you can get.

If you are just getting into knife sharpening, and working diligently on your skills, then you are certainly going to need a quality strop. There are much better knife strops on the market, but for a mid-entry level strop this will meets or exceed your expectations. It comes with a polishing compound, but you'd be better off getting your own set of compounds or grits to apply to the strop to make it more effective. Although not necessary, but it does help. It also will help to glue it to s solid base, preferably a wooden one. Good all purpose strop and will get plenty of use.

Smell VERY strong of gas, thinner, or other noxious chemical such that had to immediately wash it with soap and water and about 1/2 the smell but still not able to have indoors so left outside in the sun to "off gas" and it was a little better. However, I would NOT recommend this be kept indoors because of the smell. I leave it in the garage with the other chemicals and use it there or outside. Since I have 400, 1000, and 6000 grit diamond sharpening stones already I don't know if this actually helps; after using the diamond sharpening stones the knives are very sharp and do not see / feel a difference after using this chemical strap. Giving 3 stars because the experts say it helps to use leather and this appears to be real leather and thus I guess it does what is intended.

Nice large size of real leather for blade stropping. One side is smooth and one is rough and since I wanted to have access to either side I ordered another so I can attach them to a single flat board and choose either side depending on the need. I also ordered some additional green honing compound which is the best for getting the sharpest edge on cutting tools. A final honing after sharpening one wet stones gives the ultimate edge to your tools.
