Switched from KleanKanteen
I recently forgot my old KleanKanteen (40oz) in a plane, and thought very thoroughly about getting the same one again. I was certain I would want a non-insulated (due to size), stainless steel, >1L bottle. On most fronts both bottles perform very similarly. In the end, I decided to go for this one, for the following reasons:- Lid-shape: I like the flat top of the Nalgene, it makes the whole bottle a bit more compact than the KleanKanteen- Lid Options: As this bottle has the Guyot threads I can buy e.g. a aftermarket sports cap for easier drinking when on the go / driving (even Camelbak Lids fit). The KleanKanteen did not have this option.- Lip: The metal lip of the bottle adds extra versatility for camping. Using e.g. parachord I could get water from a creek and cook things over the fire with more ease. What is also notable is that it is higher than in the KleanKanteen, which means that when you are driving and drinking (water, of course...), spills are less likely.- Another plus is that the Nalgene lid is much easier to take off, so now I don't break my hand trying to get to my water anymore. Leakage has been nonexistant, though that has also never been a problem with the KleanKanteen.- This bottle, while a tiny bit heavier than the KleanKanteen 40oz, feels more sturdy. I hope this will result in less dents. Now to some of the negatives:- The KleanKanteen used better quality plastic for its lid - this one feels a little cheaper. Also, the cord with which the Nalgene lid is attached to the bottle gets in the way when closing the bottle. This is not a big issue, and will just take some getting used to.FYI: the listing incorrectly describes this bottle as having 1L capacity. I measured and it is more like 1.1L when filled to the top. I also want to comment on the fact that another reviewer mentions a weld inside the bottle, but there is no weld. These stainless steel bottles are pressed into shape, not welded... (same with KleanKanteen and this one). All in all, I am very happy I chose the Nalgene 38oz bottle, and hope that it will serve me well for years to come.Update: Been using it for a few months now, and the bottle is still going strong, and I am still happy I chose this over the KleanKanteen.

Worth the Price
Honestly this is a beast of a water bottle. 1L stainless steel, Wide mouth makes it very easy to clean. It’s sturdy as all hell, you could genuinely use this to hammer a nail and only incur a few minor dents. Fire safe (except for the cap) and truly rust proof. Can’t really ask for anything more. Oh an JUST Incase your wondering it’s not thermal.

Probably bulletproof, worth every penny
The bottle is so well structured that it could probably take a few bullets and still be functional, the lid is made of a tough and resilient (not cheap or tacky feeling) plastic. And the lanyard holding the lid can easily be adjusted so that lid removal is easy. It’s easy to clean, will probably last you a lifetime, don’t even think just buy it!

Really robust and doesn't leak
Chuffed with my nalgene bottle. I like the wider opening, it pours well or you can drink straight from it without spilling. It's more robust than other water bottles being much more like a canteen. It's really easy to clean and doesn't take on the taste or smell of drinks like plastic bottles do. TIt is slightly too big to fit in most drinks holders in cars but because it's leak proof, I don't mind if it sits or rolls around on the passenger seat. Love it.

Good product, 1 flaw
It's a well built bottle, clearly a lot of thought has gone into the ergonomic design. But I gave mine away in favour of the Pathfinder 32oz bottles for 1 reason: the inside/underside of the cap is plastic here, but theirs is metallic - a metal inside of the cap reduces plastic on water contact - a major benefit of having a metallic bottle in the first place. There will always be a "food grade" silicon seal around the cap which may come into contact with the water, but other than that, Pathfinder's bottle is all metal on water, where as this Nalgene is metal until the water splashes up into the cap or is turned upside down etc.

Great design
Best bottle for bushcraft. Can use on fire to boil water. Cap is great design. Being very thick stainless steel is bombproof but a bit heavy.

Gross black particles in water!! Also label says made in China.
I was honestly saved by a miracle. Filled the bottle for the first time as I was getting ready to go out but as I was getting ready I decided to play it safe and bring two disposable bottles instead, thank goodness, as I was about to leave I remembered the metal bottle was still full so I poured it out and when I did the water was all full of some strange black flakes floating everywhere which horrified me to think I almost spent the day drinking from it.Also despite how in the pictures the company makes a really big deal about it being made in USA the label with a barcode on the back of the bottle literally says "made in china".If you're willing to lie on the advert you may as well lie on the sticker, improve your consistency.
