Best lights for the techies out there!
Best lights for the techies out there!Out of all the light systems I've tried, these are probably the most convenient and configurable of them all. I recently purchased a Fluval Flux tank. After playing seeing all the things you can do with the included light system, I made the plunge and replaced all five of my aquarium lights with Fluval lights.Pro's:*Easy/Highly configurable. You can set your lights and color any way you like or use the built-in presets.*Super bright! I've had to tweak my lights often to avoid algae growth, but my plants are going crazy.*The warranty is three years on their lights!Cons's:*The iPhone app is slightly quirky and could use some work. It's just not as polished as other smart lighting apps out there. I find certain features like export custom settings confusing. Not to mention you can only export to lights of the same type. If you have Grown Lights and Aquasky lights, you cannot import-export profiles across light types even if you want a similar effect on both.*I have an iPhone and Ipad. The lights seem to work best when you only use one device to configure them. I've had issues, particularly when I rename a light, the second device will lose connection with it, and you have to re-add the light back to the device.*You cannot group lights or configure similar lights together. I have two lights in my Fluval Flex tank. I have configured each one separately. It would be nice to group them and control them both at the same time. The app treats each light individually.*You only the ability to create one routine per light. It would be nice if you could configure different patterns per day of the week. For example, I have a tank in my bedroom and have the lights come on at 6:30 am on weekdays. I sleep in on the weekends and would prefer the lights to come on around 8 am. I've installed separate smart plugs (Kasa), that turn on the power to the units at 8 am on the weekends.*No integration with Alexa or other Smart light systems. My entire house runs on Smarthings; it would be awesome to update the app to integrate with 3rd party applications. I have two tanks in my living room; it would be awesome if I could tell Alexa to turn off the lights when I want to watch a movie. Depending on the Fluval model, I have to pull out the app or hit the button light itself.*Occasionally, the lights will ignore the routines. I've run into a few instances where the lights should be off based on my configuraiton, but are still on. When I open the app and connect to the light, it suddenly re-syncs and continues where the routine should be.I realize I have lots of Cons, but they are mostly issues with the app itself. Fluval has the basics right but could enhance the app a bit. The light units themselves are great, and the ability to program them on a smart app makes them best in class for the average hobbyist.

I'm going to put these on all my tanks
One thing to keep in mind is that you must use the app to control this light as there are no physical controls available. This isn't a problem for me since the app was my main reason for purchasing these lights anyway. I have two now and I love that I can create a schedule on the app once and apply it to both lights. I'll be adding more soon and will simply use the same schedule for all of them.My only gripe about the app is that sharing your schedule between multiple lights is not intuitive. The way you have to do it is very strange and not something you would figure out on your own. I hope they improve this in future updates to the app as being able to control multiple lights on the same schedule was why I decided to put them on all my tanks.

Best addition to my aquarium hardware.
A perfect product. The light bar has been on my tank for about 2 weeks, and it is PERFECT. The lights adjust from 0-100%. You can adjust the white, red, green, and blue lights INDEPENDENTLY. Plus, you can schedule when they turn ON/OFF.There's a nice preset that takes care of the hard work. It's a standard sun cycle, sunrise, sunset, night mode. I love watching the 'sunset' on my fish tank.Oh, and the lights automatically fade between each mode. I have mine set to 0% at 0700, 100% power at 1200, and it'll fade to 0% power by 2200. They slowly adjust depending on the intensity and length of time between inputs.Understandably, there's no remote control, which I was expecting. However, it makes sense. You connect to the light bar via bluetooth on your phone. That would be a hard interface to deal with on a remote.

Easy to use
I love the Bluetooth functionality of this. So much easier than trying to set a schedule using 4 buttons on the light like my previous cheap one. I was a little disappointed to find that even at this price, there is no way to set schedule day by day to make it easier to have blackout days each week, but that's a minor issue as I can just do that manually. The app is easy to understand and operate. It does have a good range of options and seems like it should hold up well over the years.

Love this light!!
I wanted to wait a few weeks before I reviewed this light.. I have to say I very impressed with the settings and the fact It has the sunrise and sunset function. A read a lot of the reviews had problems with the ap. I really don't get that because it's very easy to use and I've had zero connections problems with an older cheaper cell phone. If amyone does there are YouTube videos explaining how to use the ap. I really love it and would certainly buy again..

Great light for my aquarium
This is a very nice looking light fixture with a good phone app interface to control its many functions. I use one of these lights on a non-planted 20 gallon long aquarium and it has worked perfectly thus far. If an aquarium is planted, you might need two of these lights depending upon the light intensity requirements of the specific plants and the depth of the aquarium. Very pleased with the Fluval Aquasky LED aquarium light.

I love this light!
This light works amazingly! My fish are happy, my plants are happy, so I am happy! I am using on a 30 gallon tall tank, that is 27” x 12. The expandable brackets make it fit perfectly. Love the automatic timer function! Starts slowly turning on at sunrise and slowly turns off at sunset... then has low blue light at night. If I want to watch them longer I can easily turn it back on. The phone app works great. LED keeps the power cost down too!
