This is a fantastic TV box, (setup is slightly complicated but easy enough for most) as it is an additional box to provide apps not available on our so called "Smart TV" in another room where certain media in particular discovery plus are not available due to browser incompatibilities . The Thomson is more than an upgrade,with a built in speaker, and talk command ability provides easy control of your viewing needs, and it does everything one needs for multimedia requirements with true 4K movies,tons of apps, GOOGLE based access to all Web based media, Kodi,discovery plus,etc.(These are standard on our living room TV) As this is such a good value /price i am looking now to replace the box in our motorhome for great TV access and I would definitely recommend this product.

I’ve been using the Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270M 4K UHD for a while now and I’m genuinely impressed. Setup is very quick and easy. If you’ve ever used a Fire TV Stick or Chromecast with Google TV, you’ll feel at home straight away. The remote is a very similar size to a Fire Stick remote, comfortable to use, and responsive. The whole interface feels fast and slick, with no noticeable lag when navigating menus or opening apps. What I really like is how portable this box is. You can take it anywhere, plug it into any TV or monitor with HDMI, connect to WiFi, and you’re good to go. Perfect for travelling, spare rooms, or using with a monitor rather than a traditional TV. It runs Google TV, so you get access to all the major apps straight out of the box. Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, YouTube, Spotify, ITVX, Channel 4 On Demand, and plenty more. YouTube works especially well and supports 4K playback. The fact that it’s Google TV also means you can rearrange apps on the home screen easily and tailor it exactly how you want. A big plus for me is that if you’re not watching or recording live TV and not using BBC iPlayer, you don’t need a TV licence. For people who mainly stream content and don’t watch terrestrial TV, this is ideal. Audio and video quality are excellent. It supports 4K UHD and works very nicely with a soundbar or external sound system thanks to Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. The Google Assistant integration is handy too. You can use “Hey Google” for voice control, and even locate the remote if it goes missing. Another really useful feature is that if you have the Google Home app on your phone, you can use your smartphone as a remote or keyboard, which makes typing searches and passwords much easier. Performance wise, it feels quick and responsive. Button presses register instantly and apps load without delay. It doesn’t feel like a budget device in day to day use. Finally, for more advanced users, it also supports sideloading apps, which is useful if you’re testing apps or doing development work. Overall, this is a great streaming box and a very solid alternative to a Fire TV Stick or Chromecast. Simple, fast, portable, and packed with features. Highly recommended.

Thompson TV box is brilliant for the price, great picture, and very quick and remote is easy to use. WiFi connection is really good and fast. The only tiny gripe is that it had to uninstall itvx, channel five and chanel4 and reinstall them. For the price this is a great piece of kit and would definitely recommend it.👍

Nice box, fast and responsive, good remote too, feels quality. Have recurring issues with BBC Iplayer which had to be sideloaded. Not Thomsons fault but the absence of the App at startup is a nuisance. Only bought because Amazon continually interferes with my Fire TV devices.

Overall a great attractive loooking box for the price and sure more people will end up buying this now that the Firestick options are limited to what you can do with them. Easy to operate, if you are familiar with Android OS, you'll find everything easily. Lots of available standard streaming applications (Netflix, Prime Video, ITVx, Channel 4, 5, YouTube etc and more). Fast WiFi connectivity and no issues with the signal in the room furthest away from the Router. Whilst BBCiPlayer isn't "Officially" available, it is possible to sideload this fairly easily if you do a simple Google Search to find out how. The only main issue I have is with the "known" problem with Disney+ and it playing jerkily/frame jumping. Even if you have the box set to match frame rate, that doesn't work with Disney+ (plenty of Google results on that issue, and it's being worked on for a future software update). I've not marked it down for this, as it still works, and there are manual workarounds such as messing with the refresh rate to force 24hz and that does work (but that then breaks it for every other app and have to change it back to Automatic). Remote is comfortable to hold. There isn't a play/pause button in that sense, just the centre circular button performs both actions. Overall, happy with first impressions and see how this lasts longer term.

Very good box. Easy to set up Great picture easy to set up the way you like it and you can customise the remote, which has a handy remote fuction built in Been using it via my mobile hotspot picked it up very well and gives a better speed than my 4k Amazon stick in the same location. Getting fed up with Amazon devices heavy on there product pushing and dictating what I can and cannot do on a device. I have purchased the device, I don't want anybody but myself saying how or what I can or cannot do with it. Feels like you have hired the Amazon devices rather than own them these days I have had Amazon tv sticks, cubes ect over the years must have had every version since they come out, but no more. This box is a very good alternative to them and after a months use I will not be going back Do not confuse this with some of the rubbish Android boxes you get it's a decent bit of kit. Plays apps all well only one not available , I can see is the bbc iplayer . but it can be installed separately very easily. Going to get the Thomson stick soon to have a play about with that.

Looks good, easy to set up , , connected up straight away to the wifi, can also be eternet connected. All apps are available for this as well. You are not limited to what Amazon want you to download only. Compared to a Firestick , this thing is like lightning speed. The remote actually feels like its got a bit of quality about it and did not fall out of a christmas cracker like the fire stick one. Shows what can be done when Amazon Prime are not trying to take over your life and the things you own.

I have only had this a few days and I love it, pretty straightforward setting up, and you can load plenty of apps you like, I also added a VPN no problem. Its user friendly, great for replacing most devices and it's Google, with a great playstore, still playing with this but so easy, I would highly recommend this product, as far as I am concerned a must have tv gadget, fantastic, it also has a usb port for more memory/photos/all sorts, as I say it's brilliant so far.
