Tastes great
Tea tastes better than expected, similar to green tea. It is not bitter. It does take little bit longer to prepare properly than it would take regular tea in the tea bags, but it is well worth it. I liked it so much that I ordered another one.

Company obviously takes pride in their quality product
Fine quality yerba mate comes in a sturdy, well-designed metal canister with a pour spout in the lid, so the tea is easy to store and keep fresh and convenient to prepare. The mate has a fresh fragrance and tastes fresh. The tea is dry, made of cleanly cut leaves, with no stems and almost no dust, not clumped and pours freely. It's vacuum-sealed in plastic inside the canister, which is inside a cardboard tube encased in bubble wrap. The tea is smooth, slightly sweet and slightly astringent. The tea arrived 16 months before its best-by sell date.

Great beverage
This is a great tasting Tea Powder - Yerba Mate. Very easy to make and smooth, light aromatic flavor. Healthy beverage. Very generous size container and high quality tea. Very good overall.

It’s ok
Yerba was clean and very little dusk like it advertised. Flavor is weak but easy to drink. The packaging is very nice and the little tub it comes in is very useful for refills. I’m more exiting about the storage tub than the this Yerba. Don’t get me wrong tho, the Yerba is smooth and easy drinking. However, I’m use to drinking Rosamonte especial that has a little more kick to it. For that one reason alone I wouldn’t buy this product alone. But it is not a bad Yerba at all. Just not for me.

I'm in love with it
Absolutely delicious, naturally sweet, delicate Yerba Mate. Very few stems. "Almost" stem free as promised. Comes in an attractive tin with a pouring spout and well-sealed inside until you are ready to open the tin. Would make a nice gift for a Yerba Mate lover.I didn't have a Yerba Mate gourd or straw handy so I used a tea infuser. You can prepare it with pretty much any tea filter. Here are the steps.- Fill a tea filter with a few tablespoons of Yerba Mate. It's to taste but generally use 3x the amount of green tea you'd use for a cup, and dial it up or down from there.- Add a little bit of cold water just to dampen the leaves.- Then start adding water at about 70°C or 158°F, and drinking the infusion right away. The main difference between brewing this and regular green tea is that you don't let this steep like tea. You add the water, not hot enough to scorch the leaves or your tongue, and drink the infusion instantly. You can keep infusing it like 10, 15, 20 times.

...a total novice tries mate according to directions online
UPDATE 9/16 - I haven't been able to check yet with real materas, but I have been learning what I can by trial and error. Now using only 2 heaping tbs per cup, with water at 165 deg., and I'm finding it really pleasant and nutty and good enough to drink plain, w/o any additions. I like the way you get multiple cups per load (I even store it in the fridge between drinks), and the way you don't need a filter if you do it right. Yerbacrew.com is one of many sites with helpful info.--As a Vine reviewer I sometimes try products that are totally new to me. Since I already had the "hardware," I figured that this was a good opportunity. But from what I read online, it is FAR better to first try mate in a social setting, among people who are familiar with the tradition(s).I filled the stainless steel gourd halfway - probably next time I'll put in much less. And as directed, I made the "montañita". Ah, but there was no powder, just as the package says. (And despite one review, my batch had the stems.) I used water at 170° F. As I write this, I'm starting my fourth refill, and the top is still not soaked through. Perhaps it's good that the package says "suave," because this stuff really packs a punch.Next step is to try to locate some South Americans in my community, so I can ask them to please show me how to do it properly, and to find out what they think of this product. After which I'll update this review.A full 5-stars because it's the most carefully packed item I've ever gotten from Amazon, and also because I'm not qualified to downrate it.
