Great books
My son loves these Smithsonian Visual Encyclopedia books. We already had the Ocean one and the Science one is wonderful as well. Will buy more of the series soon.

Wonderful Science Book!
I love this book. The different subjects are clearly explained with photos, drawings, and very explicit explanations. A good introduction to science for children and adults who've been away from school for awhile.

I bought DK Science for my two school-aged children (grades 5 and 7). Both of them love the book and it seems to have enhanced their appreciation of science and desire to learn more. The book is comprehensive, beautifully illustrated, and concisely written at a level and person of moderate/ intermediate reading skills can handle.
