Best toy for my 4 year old daughter's birthday
This little MP3 player is wonderful. It comes with batteries, although you will want to replace those soon, and preloaded with five preschool appropriate songs. We also bought the Tangled Soundtrack and loaded those songs onto the player. No problem uploading songs. The controls are very easy for my four year old to use and understand. Her two year old brother "borrows" the player all the time. He needs help un-pausing songs and will randomly push buttons. He loves to carry the player around and loves the preloaded songs. The player is very durable. The two year old slams it, stands on it, swings it and carries it around. Songs do not skip. The mic is not very load and you have to hold a small button down. The kids do use this feature, but not that often. If you are a child of the '80 and had the beige, brown fisher price tape player with mic, you will know exactly what this toy is. I would say to shop around for a good price. Although I bought from amazon, the price I see now is not what I paid.

Great toy!
Got this for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas and she LOVES it. Pros: Durable, Fun, Easy to use, love that you can put iTunes music on it. Cons: The button on the microphone needs to be bigger, she forgets to press it a lot. The speakers have "feedback" noise when she holds it too close, which is A LOT since the cord to the microphone is so short. And it is very heavyOne of her favorite gifts though, she plays with it all the time now!

One of My Childrens' Favorite Toys
I bought this for my 2 year-old on her birthday knowing that her 4 1/2 year old brother would also be using it. They both absolutely love it. On ours, the batteries last about a week with constant use or 2 weeks with regular use. It's durable and the music quality is surprisingly good for what it is. I wish there was an option to plug it into the wall though to save on those batteries. Some reviewers have said they wished it had more memory, but I have to disagree there. The only way you can move from song to song is to push Forward/Backward buttons so if you have too many songs on it, getting to a specific song would be a pain. My kids always want to go to specific favorites and I'm guessing that's common. Since the software interface is so easy to use, it's best to just switch out the songs from time to time to keep things fresh. One last thing. The microphone. With its close proximity to the speakers, you're going to have problems with distortion unless you keep it away from the speakers and don't hold it too close to your mouth. Then it works just fine.

Perfect sing along player for our 4-year-old EXCEPT...
I saw this and loved it in the box. My kid loves the thing and says it's one of the best presents Santa brought her but we have three issues with it.1 - The gosh darn thing weighs a ton (it holds FOUR C batteries) and I've now become paranoid about her dropping it... ON HER TOES! I understand that for the price you can't ask for much more keeping in mind they're already charging you for it to be essentially indestructible but I would've much rather had something I could recharge and not have to constantly be worrying about it accidentally falling on her toes. Unlike the toy, my kid's feet are not kid tough!! =/2 - The cord that hold the mic to the unit is far too short. We tried stretching it over and over to try and get some length out of it but it's a bit frustrating for my kid because she can't even plop the thing on the couch or the floor and still sing. She has to be holding the thing the whole time and I can tell at times it drives her nuts when she sets it on her play table and tries to make her way to the middle of the living room only to have the entire unit fall to the floor and end up hanging from the mic. My guess is safety reasons but I was really disappointed to find the cord was the really stiff kind that gives very little in addition to it being really short.3 - The song that was used as one of the demo songs on the unit only plays the demo length and then jumps to the next song. No, I did NOT leave the tab in! For some odd reason it does not finish the song and my kid is really disappointed about that because that just happens to be her favorite song of the preloaded ones. We have also tried repeatedly to hit the RESET button on the side of it to no avail. I'm hoping the site has the preloaded songs available for download and I can just load them back onto the unit. Keeping my fingers crossed there. If that doesn't work I may need to just contact Fisher-Price. Unfortunately, because we didn't buy this locally but through here, a return on a defective toy is much easier said than done.Overall, a really fun toy that could've used a little more work. =)

not really tough
I got this toy for my 2 years old daughter. She loved it and played with it all the time for one week the most. However one day it just did not work anymore. It had a error display in the screen y would not work at all. I am trying to call the 1800 number but not answer yet. It is too bad because my daughter really loved it and I trusted Fisher-Price. Now, I am not so sure if I want to buy another of their toys again.

A big disappointment
I was so excited to get this for my daughter. But it turned out not so great. It was so very heavy from all the batteries it required she could barely carry it. And it only held a few songs. I didn't think these would be an issue but found quickly they were. Also, you had to hold the mic as far away from the device as possible or there would always be feedback. So overall, for the price of this item I was really disappointed.

Great, But the bath did it in
My 3 year old loves this toy and it has held up well to the abuse that my house can dish out. (2 - 3 year olds, and one 14 month old). It was easy to put new music on using our Linux operating system. However, I think that the bath my daughter gave it might have done it in. Hubby, the electrical engineer, has taken it apart to try to salvage, and he was amazed at the great "kid tough" construction. I am going to keep my fingers crossed that he can get this one working but if not I know I will be ordering a replacement. After drying for a few days ---- Still working!
