A cut above the rest
Since buying my first set of Aquila Reds, I have gone on to use them on most every ukulele I own. It's a very personal thing, but for me they provide good tone, resonance, and loudness. They take a little while to bed in but then hold well. Now, when playing an instrument with different strings, the effect seems a bit dull and muted to my ears. Beware, changing to Aquila Reds may well become an addiction!

Wound Low G shows signs of wear after a week
I’ve had these strings on my Kala uke for less than a week. The sound is stronger and the intonation better. However, the low G is wound and I’ve noticed the outer red winding has worn through leaving small white gaps where it makes contact with the 1st and 2nd frets. It remains to be seen whether this will grow worse in time. I have an unwound low G on my other concert uke but had to file the nut to make it fit.As for breaking strings, there are instructions on YouTube on how to fit and stretch these strings without breaking them.

Good sound not great colour
Excellent sound but they’re not as red as I thought they would be. They’re more like an “eaten shards of broken glass and crapped it out” sort of red. In other words poo burgundy.

My favourite strings
These strings suit my concert uke very well. They last about six months if played daily and take a while to bed in. Treat them gently when new and they will give great sound.

Lasted less than 24 hours
The coil on the low G began to wear over the first couple of frets within the first hour of being on the ukulele. This became sharp and jaggy on my fingers when playing. The A string broke around the 4th fret on day 2. I stretched in the strings and strung them up correctly. Been playing guitar and ukulele for over 20 years and followed Aquila’s instructional video online regarding the luthiers knot at the tuning key and slotting the string into the nut after tuning up.Would not recommend, save your money. For the short time I did have 4 strings on the uke, I can’t say I noticed any of the improved brightness, strength, power or responsiveness that was promised. Straight out of the packet the strings have a Matt finish which gave me the impression they would be brittle and weak when stretched - this much was true.

Long lasting
I’ve been using Red Series for years on three ukes. Love the sound and longevity. Some people complain about breakages but if you follow the advice given on the Aquila website, you won’t go wrong.

Great for concert ukuleles
The Red series low g provides excellent sound and mixes well with other type strings such as fluorocarbons. I like it and highly recommend it.

Love the lower tone!!!
I love the low G string. It gives the uke more versatility. With a hi G string, the uke only sounds good with certain songs. BUT… the LOW G string gives the instrument a lower tone. And makes it sound better when playing songs that normally won’t work with a uke. I highly recommend the strings with a low G string!!!
