OS are the definitive maps for walkers
There is no doubt about it, if you are a walker, hiker or a cyclist. Especially if you go to the countryside a lot. You need an Ordinance Survey map. It is great that they give you a free digital version. Especially as the scale of the paper map makes it difficult to explore some things. For example:- Hastings Country park appears as a little strip of land, as opposed to the large and complex thing that it is. However, this is something you have to put up with if you want your map to cover a wide area, and mine does an area that spans from Pevensey in the West to Winchelsea in the East. Robert's Bridge in the North, all the way down to Hastings. But the digital version of the map compensates by permitting you to pinch and zoom the image and it is easier to handle your device in the field than it is to manage a large paper map. Especially in the wind. Unfortunately you cannot get the free digital version for your Amazon Fire device because Amazon does their own app and I would have to buy the map again in their format in order to use it. It works alright on my iphone but the Amazon device has a larger screen. Anyway I don't think this is a fault of Ordinance Survey. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I can't get a good view of Hastings Country park on the paper version.
