Works perfectly
I’ve used these without the vacuum seal and they work perfectly. I have been starting to try my hand at lacto fermenting different things. Started with making pickles, have also tried it with garlic and am looking forward to trying many different vegetables as they come into season this year. The process takes time but these lids make it effortless. I never worry about having to burb the jars or any possibility for exploding. I get to see all the small bubbles in action but know that any excess pressure will be able to escape safety.I’d consider getting the vacuum seal accessory in the future but for now these are perfect.

Preserved lemons
I love this product. I made some preserved lemons. Be careful using liquid so you don’t get it too full. The first time it sucked up back into the machine.

Does not last
This is supposed to suck out air but when it’s done sucking out air, it sucks out liquid and the liquid breaks it

OK for fermentation
This small vacuum sealer pump and lid set works ok to eliminate oxygen from jars used for fermenting: quarts of sauerkraut, pints & half pints of fermented pepper sauce, etc. It can be used multiple times during the first few days of fermentation. After that, the way the valves in the lids work, CO2 can freely flow out of the jars until the food is fully fermented. And it's fairly easy to pump the jars after checking on the contents. But the vacuum pump is far too weak to pull a strong vacuum for storing dry foods in vacuum jars, or for marinating. I was able to get a much stronger vacuum using a small vacuvin hand pump. And another difficulty: The pump shuts off after 25 seconds, not when a specific level of vacuum is reached. So, after one cycle, a full jar with little air space will have a far greater vacuum than a less full one, or one with dry foods with lots of air (dry grains, for example.)On the plus side, the lids are very well made with soft sealing gaskets. They are marked dishwasher safe, and after a couple runs through the dishwasher showed no damage. The pump is very easy to charge and use, and stores in a small space. With a more powerful pump that includes a pressure shutoff rather than just a timer, this would be a great product.

No fuss fermenting.
I am new to this type of fermentation. I have been making sourdough for a few years. I had thought about trying to ferment various vegetables for awhile now. When I saw these lids I thought now is the time to try. The lids are heavy duty and the silicone stopper makes starting a ferment a breeze. I started with carrots. I prepped the carrots and brine. Filled the jar with the carrots, poured in the brine. I then inserted a weight, screwed on the lid and sealed it with the vacuum pump. Easy peasy. After a week, I had delicious fermented carrots. Just set it and go. The gases are released through the stopper. No hassle. I highly recommend this fermentation lid kit.

The jar tops are Great, good thing i have a FoodSaver.
The caps are great so far, they hold a good vacuum on the jar. The vacuum unit would not pull a vacuum on the jar at all. I wish I only bought the lids.
