Impressive upgrade from the AC Pro
Bought this to replace my rather elderly Unifi AP AC Pro and it actually ended up replacing both the AC Pro and the AC Lite I had to cover other areas of the house that the Pro didn’t quite cover. It’d have been nice if it had used the same mount as the old AP, but Interestingly the unit is quite a lot heavier than the old AC AP so I guess it needs something a little beefier to hold it in place. Now getting good strong coverage in all corners of this medium sized 4 bedroom house. Well worth the cost.

Works very well
I was a bit worried getting these as so many people online have reported issues. I took the risk and still bought - I've got 3 of them now and haven't faced a single issue. Was so easy to get up and running - literally plug in and the press "adopt".Would be nice if Unifi released some "tabletop" versions.

Unsuitable as a replacement standalone AP on an existing LAN
Doesn't seem to work as a standalone AP, even if you download the various Android apps that supposedly configure the device. The Android apps and website also seem rather buggy, with multiple entirely blank screens, or a screen that had content but then flashed to opaque white before you could read anything.Spent an afternoon trying to get it to work. I don't have or want a "Console" or a "Cloud Gateway". I wouldn't mind if I had to configure the AP using my phone, but that doesn't work either. There is a "scan QR code on back of device" option buried in the app, but whilst it does activate the camera on the phone, there's no actual way to scan the QR code. Additionally, you don't want to be close to the AP to read the tiny print on the back, because the paper leaflet says you have to be 20cm away from the device when it is switched on.Overall, it might work great if you have multiple APs and all the extra gateway/hub boxes they seem to be flogging, but steer clear if all you wanted was a business-class AP to run standalone on your existing Cat6 house LAN.

Ubiquiti Unifi U7-Pro
Had been holding back due to some of the reviews on here. Got to say, I wish I had not. Arrived at just gone 8am Sunday morning. Exactly as described, brand new, factory sealed U7-Pro. Down with the old Omada access point and up with my new Ubiquiti model. Within minutes my wireless network was back up and running. So far very stable, much greater coverage on all frequency bands. Only running on a 1GbE PoE wired link, but that will change to 2.5GbE) when I eventually purchase the USW24-Pro-Max PoE switch.

Good AP
Replaced 5 APs around the house and these are great. Getting full 1.5gbs internet speeds from most rooms. Nice AP for a super low price compared to Aruba or Cisco.

Absolute beast!
Replaced a uap-ac-lite in the busiest area of my house for one of these since having an extension done, what can I say, this thing is an absolute beast!I can completely utilise my 560 Mbit virgin media broadband and other devices streaming or utilising the network don't appear to slow at all, great for when I'm downloading a game whilst the Mrs is streaming TV; previously I'd have to limit my download speeds.Everything just feels that bit quicker now, no random slow downs, great signal coverage too, very happy indeed!

Stick to the U6+ or U6 Lite if you can still get them
I bought two of these intending to upgrade U6 Lite APs in my home but would send them back if I had not already given the U6s to my mum. I have over 100 IoT clients in my house so stable WiFi is critical and I live in a dense radio area with dozens of networks competing for radio spectrum. The U7-Pro has technically better 2.4Ghz antenna that the U6 products but on aggregate is a lesser product outside enterprise deployment. Firstly it is much bigger and consumes more than double the power and the backplate is cast aluminium rather than plastic. This feels premium but if installed on a lower ground floor ceiling it acts a radio shield for floors above yielding in much poorer signal (attenuation). In a lateral enterprise or apartment deployment this is fine but just does not work for typical UK residential. Add that to the paucity of Wifi7 clients, even in 2025, and that WiFi6+ spectrum is disabled in the UK then the U7-Pro is a poor value choice and likely still will be when the U8 range is released.Ubiqiti has some great value products but the U7-Pro is not one of them for typical Amazon customers.
