Wonderful Read
I was surprised to find “Noel” in this book, a character from “The Shell Seekers” that I didn’t like at all but Ms Pilcher wove him into this story with great results. Once again Scotland, one of my favorite places, came alive; characters warm, interesting and rememberable.

excellent work
I really got stuck on this book it was so hard to stop reading. One of her best books. Way all books should be written that pull you in and love all the people who you know someone who is like them so much.

Pretty good
For the most part I liked this book. It was the third Rosamunde Pilcher book that I had read, the first being Winter Solstice and the second being The Shell Seekers. While this book follows the Shell Seekers and has one character in common, the references to The Shell Seekers are few and very small so you don't have to read them in order. While in "September"s favor there were no characters that I really couldn't stand, there were also none that I really loved either. I liked most of them well enough but none of them really jumped out at me as being special enough to make me get completely sucked into the book, anxiously awaiting a time when I could do some reading. The Shell Seekers definitely made me feel that as did Winter Solstice...but Coming Home(which I read after September) REALLY grabbed me! I LOVED that book and it is definitely my favorite of Ms. Pilcher's books. Although very long, longer even than this one which is over 700 pages, I never felt like it was TOO long.in fact from the time I got to the halfway point I was dreading the end and kept checking to see how much was left..if it had been another 1000 pages I would not have minded at all. September also didn't seem too long to me although I have heard others say it was. I was engrossed in the story and never felt that it was dragging...both books went by much faster than any previous books of that length that I have read in the past.I absolutely recommend this book if you are a fan of Aga Sagas..the few things that did annoy me will probably not bother anyone else(I'm not listing them because they give away too much).

Another good book by Pilcher
A good book from Rosamunde Pilcher. Also have read The Shell Seekers. Both engrossing and fun to read. Both long books. And very visual.

This is a very long book with many detailed characters.
My book arrived quickly, and it was in great condition as advertised. While I love Rosamunde Pilcher's writing and have read many of her books, I could not get into this one. I was hoping it was similar to Coming Home, but in September there are so many characters who seem to be inconsequential to the story that I just lost interest. Descriptions are excellent, but just too many people who hold no special interest. I gave my book to a library.

another grand Pilcher book
Love all of Rosamunde Pilcher’s novels. This one started a bit slow, lots of characters to get to know. Loved Noel Keeling being in the book, a tie to Shell Seekers. Another family saga, rich with personalities and twists and turns.

Wonderful story of love and family
I haven't read this author for quite a while but discovered again what a wonderful story teller Rosamund Pilcher was. Set in the remote highlands of Scotland after WWII, her characters introduce us to the struggle one family faces, trying to maintain their family estate. It gives us a glimpse into the everyday life of the people who live in the remote village and their interconnections and loyalty to help each other when the need arises. In September, long lost relations and friends come together to lavishly celebrate the 21st birthday of a local girl hosted by her gentried family. In the process, old secrets emerge and new loves arise. The characters bring the story to life in a heart warming way that made for an excellent book.

Great Story
I have read this book in paperback -as the first by Rosamunde Pilcher- and fell in love with her writing and all the characters and wonderful story. Then seen it here and couldn’t resist- re-reading it is such a joy, just like chatting with an old friend, never tire of it. All Rosamunde’s books bring this warm fuzzy feeling, like being ensconced in a warm room in the old times, childhood tranquility and comfort. Try any of her books and I dare you not to feel the same!

A pleasure to read!
As usual, Rosamunde Pilcher is at her best. Her choice of words when describing people, the landscape, the mood and the scene are exquisite. Her books are always a pleasure to read!
