Whitehall Products Dragonfly Sundial, French Bronze

Placed this beautiful sundial on a small table in the middle of a labyrinth. The children love it and teaching their parents how it works when picked up at preschool and after church.

Assembly was a breeze. Looks really nice too. They recomend to set the time at 9am. Living in the northern US the suns gone by 5 pm. Its amazing to know that many years ago before clocks were invented this was the only way to tell time! The main reason I happened to buy this one also, is its numerical and doesn't have roman numbers.

The sundial itself is very nice. It is not heavy but is solid. The dragonfly piece is easy to attach to the base. The numbers are easy to read. The color is nice nice worn brass. I really really like it. The base has little nubs to stand on, but if you put it on dirt, they will not be enough. And therein lies it's one negative. Unless you put it on a hard surface (wood deck or concrete), it will get covered by dirt, bark, pebbles, etc, as it sits pretty much flat on the ground. This would have been perfect, IF it was on an actual stand, so I adapted it. I bought the "Veakoo Metal Plant Stand Indoor Outdoor,2 Tier Tall Flower Pot Shelf Planter Holder Pedestal Round". The size of the top of the stand is just perfect to fit the sundial. I used JBWeld 5 minute epoxy to attach them together. Now I have a cute sundial that sits up off the ground. A nice pot with a pretty plant on the bottom shelf will stabilize the set and provide an interest piece. If you don't put something heavier on the bottom shelf, you'll want to use garden loop stakes to secure it to the ground.

I love how this sundial looks in my garden. It is high quality for the price as well. The only drawback for me is the instructions for finding a true north setting is difficult at best, at least for this non scientific lay person. So...for now it is in my garden facing approximate North, does it really matter anyway?

When I went to put the screws into shadow caster, the screws were not long enough. So I had to do some slight drilling on the bottom(concave drill bit) so the screws would reach all the way through. I love the looks of the sun dial, plus it's made of cast iron. I put the sun dial in a decorative birdbath and put plants around it. It looks great and keeps good time. The best way to set the time is to use a compass and point the sun dial to compass North.

We first saw this sundial at our local forest preserve's nature center and then found it here on Amazon. We're very happy with it, a beautiful addition to the garden.

This Sundial is exceptional. It came exactly as described, I especially like the quality finish and the unique design with the Dragon fly. It was money well spent and it looks great in the garden. I would highly recommend this product and it is not cheaply made (made in U.S.A.). I'm glad I bought 1 extra for an intended gift.

As far as we can see this lovely Sundial is not for AUSTRALIA or the southern hemisphere. We set it up and realised the time was going backwards😬 Hopefully I can return it and find a local one.

Came in a moderately timely fashion. Looks good but it won’t be used until the summer. It came vacuum sealed to cardboard. It would have been a but nicer if it came in a box other than the shipping box BUT then it would cost more. It looks exactly as advertised.
