Morning Song12000 Goldfinch Thistle Seed Wild Bird Food, 3-Pound

This is super food if you want to attract gold finches and house finches. I just love them and they are such singers. House finches will show up for regular seed but I don't have luck with the beautiful gold finches unless i put out the thistle or nyjer seed. This was priced great because it usually is "gold" seed, as bad as meal worms for pricey feed but this was a lucky find at a wonderful price.

UPDATE: I originally posted that while the seed seemed very good quality, the goldfinches picked through it to get to my black oil sunflower seeds, so I stopped using it and focused on sunflower and safflower seeds in my feeder. Last week I was cleaning out my bird seed and came across this bag. Not wanting it to go to waste, I added it to my feeder. In one day, my resident flock of goldfinches, who have been MIA for the last several months, ate it all. I added more, and they came again and cleaned it out. I think when I first added it in late winter, the birds were looking for a higher fat food, which is why they preferred the sunflower seeds. Now they are all about this thistle seed, sparring with my territorial house finches to get to the feeder. I will definitely continue feeding this seed and buy more when I run out.

The gold finches love this seed. We have 6-10 gold finches on a daily based that love this seed. The biggest issue is the finches eat our feeder out about every 2 days.

I love goldfinch and they haven't really been around my garden much over the last 10 years until I bought a new feeder and this food. I am not sure which is the bigger draw for the finch but the food goes very quickly now and I couldn't be happier. I have 20-30 goldfinch a day now. thrilled.

Seems to be a very good deal as I can not buy this cheaper elsewhere (some close prices but this one is a little cheaper). The birds are not eating this thistle as much as they were a different brand I had. I am not sure if the seed does not taste good or if it is because the seed is very dusty. As I pour it into the feeder a ton of dust is raised. Appears to be dirt dust. The birds still eat it slowly. They used to empty the feeder in 4 days, not its not half empty after a week.

I fill a sock with it. The finches will work on the sock all day.
