The mechanical design is slightly different from the OEM design: a few plastic tabs present on the OEM battery are missing on this one; only three screws attach the top and bottom halves of the case versus five on the OEM product; the plastic may be slightly thinner than the OEM plastic by a fraction of a millimeter. Despite these differences, it fits the drill without any problems and is adequately rugged.Electrically, it is superior in some regards to the OEM battery. It uses a less-obsolete battery chemistry (Ni-MH vs. Ni-Cad), and it has higher capacity (3Ah vs 2.4Ah).One missing feature is thermal protection. This battery has only two contacts (power and ground), whereas the OEM battery has a third contact that is connected to an internal thermocouple. This contact is not used by the drill itself but is used by the DeWalt charger, presumably to abort charging should the battery get too hot.Overall, I am happy with the product and will probably use it as is, although I will not leave it charging unattended for long periods of time. I may consider transferring the cells into the old DeWalt case to take advantage of the thermocouple there.

Arrived within 3 days, fits drill perfectly, took charge on my oem charger, and holds charge as well as original new battery. Can't advise as to long-term reliability as I've only had it for a couple of months, but so far I'm very satisfied. Will buy another.Only con, battery is grey not DeWalt yellow & black, but.... was advertised as possibly being so, therefore, no negative stars.Update 7/18: long-term storage is great...can leave unused for several weeks and still runs like full charge...great battery.

I purchase several things on Amazon, and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. Working just fine, plenty of power for my 12 volt Dewalt Drills. Fraction of the cost of Dewalt brand. I use Dewalt tools at home and at work. From my experience, if you’re using these batteries in a commercial atmosphere, that is cycling the battery more than a couple of Times a week, then just suck it up and buy the name brand battery backed up with a two year warranty which they will reluctantly honor. In lighter applications the “ after market brand will work just fine!

So far...so good. Charged easily (it came partially charged) to over 14 Volts in my DeWalt drill original charger. Checked unconnected discharge rate and was very low. then I used it for a substantial job, drilling on wood and steel and at the end of the "job" the battery was just slightly below 13 Volts! Recharged completely in less than 1/2 hour. Perfect fit on the drill. Too new to judge longevity, but so far I will not hesitate in recommending it highly.

What a difference a fresh battery makes to the operation of your power told. My old battery worked but would lose its charge after a few hours. This new battery keeps the tool charged and ready to go even after several days of being idle.

its nice to get my old drill back working again, these batteries work great and much cheaper then Dewalts price worth the price paid

Difficult to write on longevity since I have only had them a month and only used them on one project. Boring holes in a 4x4 with a 3/4" auger bit. They do about 2.5 holes before having to replace the battery. The wood is quiet moist so it is a big job... Overall they seem fine and a much better price that DeWalt.
