It's certainly a big solid chunk of rustic wood ! and to go with it big solid rods with large screws and raw plugs. I've not got a drill bit big enough at the moment and it'll probably need a mains powered hammer drill to drive a bit that big into the wall. I doubt a cordless would have enough oomph...The slots for the shelf rods are simply two slots cut into the back of the solid wood shelf. Quite wide openings so you don't need to be 100% accurate horizontally when drilling into the wall for them. The rods are a tight fit in the slots and I'm guessing once the rods are in the wall it'll need another piece of wood on the front and a good whack with a wooden mallet to drive the shelf back onto them - not sure how you'd get the shelf off again, so best get it right.Hope the photos help. Pound coin for scale, you don't get a pound with it :)

Bought the 2' 6" version. Good to look at and invisible brackets are fine for this length but might be not so good for the long versions. Shelf very difficult to push onto the brackets, very tight and needed lots of force. Not idea how to get them off again if ever I need to.

Good solid wood, not wonderful, but good. At price, pretty ok. Used in our bathroom, rustic but not excessively so.

Good quality solid chunky shelf, the oak wax finish gives these pine shelves a lovely finish, good quality fixings supplied, very pleased with the shelves, the dispatch and delivery was also good.
