Powerful Diagnostic Tool at a Great Price!
The XTOOL AD20 Pro OBD2 Scanner is a compact and powerful tool for the in-tune driver. It's important to note for this is not a bi-directional tool meaning that why it can clear codes, it is not intended or designed to use bi-directional data to activate circuits, switches, lamps, etc. What the AD20 Pro will do is provide you an overall health check on your car's systems and has the ability to deep dive to help diagnose any challenges if you choose. After downloading the app, it is very easy to get started and get the AD20 Pro paired with your vehicle. When you first insert the reader into your OBD2 port, I suggest having the box available so you can confirm the serial number of the reader. The number is also printed on the reader, but often out of site when you're in the driver's seat.Once paired, it's very simple to get started, simply press on "Quick Test" and the AD20 Pro goes to work checking important systems and gives you a check mark next to all the systems it detects. You can also go into what is called, "OBD Live Data" and select from a host of parameters what to look closer at. For instance, let's say you're a DIY kind of person and you reach out to people or forums to help diagnose faults in your car. Maybe you're having challenges with an O2 sensor or maybe misfire faults. Many times experts will want to know what your fuel trims are or what the readings on your upstream or downstream O2 sensors are reading. This tool tackles that in real time and a simple screen grab such as I've included above can be kept for reference. USER HINT: If you choose to select from the OBD Live Data options and say you want to check on some other data, it is easier to click on the "Select All" and then "Select All" again which will toggle all checked boxes off instead of having to go back and unselect them manually (it will make more sense after you purchase the AD20 Pro). It literally walks you through all the steps. We all love emissions testing right? The AD20 Pro lets you check your emissions readiness BEFORE you get in line at the emissions station just to be sent home because your car isn't ready. And this can happen after a simple battery change or dead battery situation. It takes time for your car to ready itself and this can tell you if that has happened.During the testing of the AD20 on one of my vehicles, I knew I had an illuminated light on the dash for a TPMS sensor in the right wheel. I used the "In Depth Check Function" to have the AD20 Pro go through the specific systems one by one either showing passing or failing results. This is where I found the TPMS information along with a couple of other faults I did not know about. None of these faults are programmed to illuminate a MIL or Check Engine light on the dash as they are not critical to the drivetrain's health. But they still need to be addressed. The In Depth Check Function is in the main menu selection at the bottom of the Home Screen and scans the vehicle from front to back. What I really liked about the AD20 Pro was after finding a fault, it provided the ability to directly click on a link which took me to the Internet with specific searches about the fault. Articles or YouTube links were at my fingertips while I was still seated in my car!I could literally spend hours talking about what this is capable and I've included several images of what is available to see on the AD20 Pro. Most importantly, the AD20 Pro provides the owner of a vehicle to have the upper hand when it comes to potential repairs. Maybe you're not mechanically inclined and have no desire to work on your car. That's no problem, but that doesn't mean you can't be informed when it comes to your vehicle's needs or the importance of a looming repair. Upselling repairs or replacement parts is big business and the AD20 Pro gives the car owner a solid foundation of knowledge to discuss the health of their vehicle and what repairs it might need. The XTOOL AD20 Pro OBD2 Scanner is affordable and compact enough to fit in your glove box so you can keep your car maintained and stay on the road with confidence.

Engine, ABS and more
This is a great device for $20. I haven't located the manual yet for some of the technical abbreviations used, and there is some missing live data that I would like to see but again maybe it's there somewhere but I need to see the manual. Definitely more versatile than the lower end scanners costing much more than this device. A lot of bang for the buck.

A simple OBD2 scanner reasonably priced - updated
Updated post - I've been trying out this scanner for over a month now and overall, I believe it's a great tool that's easy to use at a very reasonable price. And no need for third party software. The instructions for setting up the device may seem a little confusing. But this is what I did. Getting it to pair with your phone is the first thing you need to do. You need to download the app and enter your email. They use 2 step confirmation with your email which is good. Once you enter the code they send, the device is activated on their end. (If you don't do this, you will never see the device populate on your bluetooth list of your phone.) You cannot just plug it in and connect to your phone. you need to follow the steps on the app. Once the app is setup on the phone you'll scan the QR code on the device and then plug it into the car. I've attached a few photos to show how it works. The device will automatically connect to your ECU and it finds the VIN number and you just confirm the data to get started. Once this is complete you can begin to do your scanning. It works quickly and easily and shows the DTC codes and give a hyperlink if you want to look them up. You can then clear the codes and it walks you through the steps on the app. It does all this allows for switching between cars very easily. Something the earlier version of the AD20 did not do so well. I bought a couple of the earlier versions for my kids cars and it was a hassle switching cars and setting up each time.Initially I had an issue with the device throwing a VSC code on an older Lexus when I first got it. However, I reached out to their product support and they updated the software which fixed the problem in short order. (I have one of their professional scanners, the D7 and they've always been quick to make corrections for updates to take care of any issues.)So if you want a scanner to keep in your car for the occasional check when you have an MIL or DTC, this is a great option that's at the right price point. And you can't beat the customer service.

BT stopped working
Worked fine at the beginning. Then BT connectivity issues started... was connecting after several attempts... now not connecting at all. White led on the device is still blinking. Unusable after less than 4 months.

Perfect
Very good scanner and has most of the functionality needed and it’s so easy to use too and connecting is as easy as pairing your headphones to your phone and it’s able to delete engine lights
