THE ULTIMATE GUITAR TUNER
The accuracy and ease of use of this guitar tuner is astounding. The design requires only that the Snark be clamped to the headstock of the guitar and turned on with the "on-off" button. With the strings already being somewhere close to target pitch, the Snark will tell you whether to pitch needs to go up or down to be perfectly in tune. It is sensitive to the vibrations coming from the headstock rather than to sound waves in the vicinity.Even if the ambient sound around you includes multiple musicians tuning their own instruments and making all sorts of "noise", your Snark will be telling you the pitch being generated by your guitar. If it's a bit flat, you'll see red lines to the left of the pitch you're trying to attain. If it's a bit sharp, you'll see yellow lines to right of the target pitch. When a single one of these lines is shown directly adjacent to the target pitch (shown in the green wedge in the center of the dial), you need barely turn the tuning peg to get that string EXACTLY on pitch. Then when you pluck that string again, let the tone be sustained without seeing either red or yellow lines...and go to the next string. When you get 'em all, turn off the tuner and start pickin'!Aside:I tune my 12 string guitar to standard tuning pitches with a capo between the nut and the first fret. That allows for less tension in all of the strings and brings them all closer to the frets which makes it easier on the fingertips. The final tuning works best going from a bit flat to right on the money.

Brilliant product and customer service
It worked really well on both my basses and acoustic guitars. Bright display, accurate, however my first unit just stopped working. Granted it got dropped a couple of times, but isn't that to be expected if used by a gigging musician, especially if using on multiple instruments? I contacted customer service who asked me to send a photo then arranged a free replacement sent from the US. I would particularly like to thank Michelle from Snark for arranging everything and keeping me informed. Very impressed.
