I really do love this little journal. I especially loved the thickness and paper. I was worried after reading that several of these leather type journals had staining that would rub off on your hands, but after using this several times there's been nary a smudge. The only problem is one that I should have expected... I wanted a locking journal for the sole reason that I want to keep my writing private. However, since it's a soft journal, anyone who wants to read it can just hold the cover up and read the pages. I was able to cut off the hard cover of another journal and glue them to the inside of the leather, and that keeps the cover from bowing up to reveal all, and that works nicely. The only other issue is that the cover flap sometimes gets in the way when I'm writing. I tend to get lost in my scribbling and venting, and sometimes it's hard to position the journal in a way where I'm not distracted by the flap. But with all that being said, I really do love this journal. I love the size because it gives me so much more room to write than all the other leather journals I saw, and now that it's got cover reinforcements, noisy nellys can't read my vents. It's beautiful, and the stain stays right where it's supposed to.

This item is made so well, I am so pleased with the design and finishing touches. I am giving this to my Grandson for Christmas and I know he will cherish it. The handmade paper is the finishing touch and is a nice thickness so if he decides to sketch with either pen, chalk or fountain pen, it will not show thru to the other side. The securing of the paper is done old style by sewing it onto the tooled leather cover. I will definitely purchase more of these from this vendor. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Present for my husband. Wow this journal us just beautiful! Love all the detail on the sleeve... It looks handmade. It's not just regular paper, the pages have a nice thick quality. My husband starting writing in it immediately. He said the only problem is the string is too fragile & thin, you can't wrap it too tightly around the book or it may tear.... It seems more for show. On a whole, very happy with the purchase, nice size & would highly recommend it.

so I ordered this same journal from another seller and it was a christmas gift so I needed it right away. it arrived but was something entirely different. i reported to amazon and they sent out a replacement but i had a feeling it was going to be the same problem and it was, wrong items sent again. I knew it was going to happen because the sticker on the package said it was the correct item but the item in said package was not the right thing. so frustrating. anyhow, i found this seller and theirs was five dollars less and was the actual correct item! i am very pleased with this journal. it is really nice. everything looks fine, the embossing is straight, leather is nice, good quality for a great price.

The journal is gorgeous and the paper is really nice to write in. I didnt read all the way through, the pages are blank and dont have any lines, which is totally fine. I just suck at writing straight. But the only thing that I would complain about is the lock they use. It can be opened by my finger nail. You just slightly push it to the right and it pops right open. So if you do get this so no one reads your journal or book ideas, order a different tiny lock along with this journal. It's worth it!

I was looking for a blank book to use for various things. A thankful journal, prayer journal, and just a place to jot thoughts and ideas and whatever pops into my mind. I love the “antique” look to this book. I think it will really motivate me to use it. The leather cover is a nice weight and feel. The pages are sewn in, adding to the old look and feel. A leather string that wraps around and keeps the book closed tight is a nice touch too.

This was a lovely item and was priced well considering the level of craftsmanship. It's handmade so each one is going to be a little different. The paper is nice. If you are an art book maker with mad book making skills (like I am), sure, you could do better with the binding--though I have seen far worse from people with degrees in the field--but this is totally a great deal considering. I certainly would not make one like this for this price. I really like it and would buy again...three months later and still loving it.

I chose this item over other similar items specifically because it described the pages as "lined" and paid a little more to get the lined pages. They are unlined low grade paper. I will gift the item as planned but I am disappointed. I have another person that I want to give a journal. I will not buy this one again.
