) and thought she was brilliant. Strangely
I finally got around to buying this after having it on my wish-list for ages! Now, I bought some of her singles back in the day (yes, I'm really old!) and thought she was brilliant. Strangely, there was very little known about her by way of publicity or write-ups or interviews etc.,(probably because of her low-profile at the time), so I was very pleased to be able to find out so much from reading the sleeve notes included, which often isn't the case, and indeed is a potted resume of her career & life.. worth buying just for that alone!I've always had a liking for non-mainstream stuff & artists so Sharon's distinctive voice coupled with rockier treatments of some numbers appealed to me .. especially "Hold On" & "Toe Hold", plus re-workings of "Our day will come" for instance. I always felt she'd been overlooked, but now with hindsight (& knowledge) I can see the challenge she presented to agents/producers etc.On the one hand, her manager/partner did get her some success in the US and it probably wasn't his fault that the Stax scene turned out to be somewhat short-lived and a cul-de-sac for Sharon. The CD certainly gives an idea of how many different styles she had been across in an attempt to find her own niche..in fact (unlike another reviewer), I think mixing-up the different tracks actually serves to highlight the afore-mentioned attemps to define her. Shame,.. if she could have "hung on in there" (in the UK) I think she may well have got the slot that Clodagh Rodgers took in the early 70's.. she certainly had the body to be able to wear hot pants & mini skirts!

Wow!
I cannot believe I'd never heard of Ms Tandy before. I came across one of her songs on Tw!tter of all places and was intrigued.Having YouTubed more of her songs I realised I needed to have her tunes in hard copy and am so glad I now own this.If you like music you should buy this record.

Blue-eyed soul
Sharon Tandy was one of my loves in the 1960s and this is a classic album. Her cover of Lorraine Ellison's classis "Stay with me" is brilliant in its own right. But listen to Sharon's version of "Our day will come" which I believe is the best version there is.

Outstanding
What an outstanding artist. Sharon Tandy never had the success her talent deserved. There are so many tracks that were worthy of chart success. The CD stands the test of time too. As good today as when they were recorded.

A must have 60s C.D.
Sharon Tandy and The Fleur De Lys both individually and collectively added up to a big fat zero chartwise in the 60s.Listen to this c.d. and WONDER WHY! Whether it's blue eyed soul, freakbeat, pop or ballads-Sharon's voice, powerful, pleading, soulful and ever so sexy handles it all easily. Most of the singles and b-sides are here as well as the STAX sessions. It cost me over £100 to acquire them and now they're all here in excellent sound quality. I don,t mind one bit. I only hope it opens the vaults to more from this fabulous singer.Shame on the 60's public for not buying her records and shame on me because I was one of them.
