Great monitor
After using dual monitors for years I bought this monitor's big brother, the LG 34” IPS Monitor 34UM95-P, which I fell instantly in love with. I liked in so much I wanted to try this smaller relative of the 34U in my secondary office. I love it. The size is PLENTY large, without so big that it dominates the entire room. The 34" ultrawide can feel almost embarrassingly large for clients walking in the room. ("What is that?!") By contrast, this monitor's size feels more in line with what people expect to see on a normal human being's desk. You're not going to get the "bloomberg terminal" feel of two monitor's, but you are going to get a luxurious amount of computer desktop real-estate to work on documents, have two browsers open at the same time, and all the other reasons you would use two monitors . . . without having to actually buy two monitors.Image is crisp and clear. Speakers sound perfectly fine for everyday tasks and internet browsing, much better than my computer speakers. For the price, you're not gonna get more monitor. One thing to be aware of, this monitor has no USB port replication, if that's important to you. Inputs in general are minimal.

Very happy, just know what what you are getting into
Bought this to go along with my two other LG 21:9's. I already have the LG29um55's which are the same except no speakers. I really only need speakers on one, not all of them, so i figured as long as the bezel footprint is the same why not save $100 on the other two? There is really no information anywhere on the differences between the 55 and 65 models. I did alot of research and all that i could come up with was that 65 had speakers and a higher brightness. I can confirm that this seems to be the case. I have all of them side by side on mounts and you cannot tell the difference. The 65 has a little more depth because of the speakers but you can't tell from the front and other angles would really have to look closely to tell. What i do notice though is that the picture is much different than the 55's. You can tell that the 65 is much brighter. I put all of them on the same setting and the 65 is REALLY bright. I figured i would just turn the brightness of the 65 down more than the other for parity and with all else being equal in setting colors would be close. However, this isn't true. The 65 seems to have much brighter whites while the 55 doesn't get terribly white. I think one would not notice only having the 55's but next to the 65 definitely big difference. Annoying? a little. My guess is that all the 55's are on sale as LG tries to push them through knowing that the 65 has big picture quality improvements but leads me to believe LG doesn't want to really let on to this (hence the lack of information on the 55 or difference between the 65).I plan to try customized settings to the 55's to see if i can get some of the white to pop more, if not likely return those and get 2 more 65's and bite the bullet on it.As for the 65's not much else to say except be aware they are different drivers than the 55 as well as a different power cord so dont mix them up (likely higher wattage to power the speakers). I would recommend the 65's over the 55's based on picture quality and brightness, if you can spare the additional $100 each. If not go for the 55's they are still good but don't mix them.I have hear complaints about the 65's speakers. To be honest, I find them pretty good. yes, you aren't going to get sound that immerses you in a game environment, but for everyday use, they are loud, relatively clear, and better than my external logitechs that i was able to disconnect as a result. I am pretty happy with them. I guess it depends on expectations. Note, that i have my computer also hooked up to my home stereo system via airplay so when i really want quality audio i just hit that button and speakers in my office go on super quality so you aren't married to this speaker if you don't want to be but is a good option to get component speakers off your desk. Now i had trouble getting the speaker to work and after lots of trial and error got it working. If you have multiple monitors you may experience same issue depending on your motherboard and audio application and drivers. Basically, make sure the LG driver is installed, reboot. If still doesnt work, I had to go to RealTek and reinstall the drivers, reboot, then disconnect my two other monitors for my computer to see the playback device so i could tell it that it is default. Then connect the other monitors again, and works. This is all over Displayport but keep in mind would likely be the same over HDMI as well, or any combination of.For the money relative to quality, I think the 55 and 65's are the best deal out there. The 65 has the edge on picture quality and if you want to clean up your desk by cutting loose the separate speakers these are a fantastic deal. For multiple monitors, would head mixing the two or try out first side by side to see if something you can deal with. I looked at the 25", way too small to really multi-task. Was concerned that 29" would be too small as well, as they always look small in the store then back in the office look bigger. They seem to be what I was hoping in terms of size. If you have the cash and the space the 34"'s are the way to go, but they were out of my price range and I don't think I could fit them. Even if I could i think it would be out of my range of vision on the triple setup. I could see a single or dual with them but not three.I hope this review helps someone in the same situation as I did so much research but so little information out there pertaining to differences on the models and in context of multiple monitor setup. All the other features like split screen with multiple sources are awesome too as would expect.Last note is the split screen software. I could not get it to work. It installed but seems to have a bug (I am on Win7 64bit ultimate) where no settings work at all. I uninstalled and downloaded Actual Monitors and it is rock solid with so many useful features. far more flexible. Did alot of research here too and was previously using another tool. For serious use of these check that software out.

Not worth it!
It's an okay monitor. For the price and description I was expecting better. And the protection plan is no better. Do not waste your money it either.

Not for my work
Bought this at best Buy for $299. Returned it because it's too narrow from bottom to top. Spreadsheets and gaming maybe, but not good for graphics work when screen space is needed. Resolution is good, cycle time is good, but size matters and it isn't a standard wide screen aspect ratio.

Three Stars
Nice. But only really good for 1 systems. Not 4. And 2 is questionable.

Very good monitor for my use...
I have this connected to the latest Mac Mini with a display port cable and the image is crisp, clear, bright and full resolution, without using the DVI-D connection mentioned by other reviewers. This display port cable is a simple and inexpensive way to get the most out of this monitor with most newer Macs. The aspect ratio is amazing for my use in a home recording studio with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). In addition, the built-in speakers are quite good for routine audio and I can easily use AirPlay to wirelessly stream the audio to high quality studio monitors. A great buy!

Love the widescreen
I got this for Christmas.Love the widescreen.I have a 2014 MacBook Air and it will only drive one external monitor. This LG ultrawide allows me to view two full web pages, or outlook on one side and the internet on the other.I am just experiencing two bugs (compared to my old Dell 19 inch monitor)1. The monitor doesn't stay asleep. When the computer is asleep at night the monitor wakes up, tries to find a source and then goes back to sleep. I know it happens many times during the night.2. the Mac brightness control on my keyboard doesn't control the brightness on this monitor.Oh yeah, out of the box this thing is retina searing bright. I turned it down to about 20% and that looks "normal"I'm hoping I can figure out a solution the monitor waking up at night.
