Opticum LQP 04 H Quad LNB for Satellite Receivers

Now, I bought an all in package - dish + LNB for under thirty quid when fitting my freesat system and it did work for a while. However, after a storm all was dead so I decided to see if an upgraded quad LNB would be the way forward. So I searched around and to be honest they are generally cheap and cheerful. That's not exactly what I wanted. I wanted a bit of kit that felt high quality and performed better and this was as good as I could see on line.When it arrived I was pleased with the heft and build quality. Very good indeed. What I was less happy about was the fact that it didn't fit my satellite dish mount as it was for the SKY standard LNB which has a smaller diameter. This is 40mm and you have to get an adaptor to mount this to your dish.Once I'd fiddled around finding the satellite again what I noticed that my Humax freesat unit indicated that the signal strength was around 80% but the quality around 95 to 100%. This was definitely better than my original LNB and presumably down to the increased sensitivity of this unit.If you are after a new Quad LNB then this would be a good option I feel. I'm very happy with it to be honest.

I was able to install this plus the satellite dish in record time - maybe an hour or two (most time was spent finding and fitting a bracket that did not look untidy yet was well made and rigid - followed by fitting cable runs). The sliding sleeve cover seems a good idea to give extra weather protection though of course the amalgamating tape should ensure a waterproof LNB cable connection. It so happens that this time the dish I bought was white so the white LNB matches it and looks less obtrusive. (pity about the black cable that I used but only short run so not too noticeable...)
