Works great. Lit up a stack of not very dry firewood in my chimney.

I have a small firepit and these cubes are perfect for getting it going. One cube is all it takes for my small firepit, but for larger firepits multiple cubes may be needed. I hold a flame to the cube for a few seconds, once it catches, I sit back and watch as the rest of the wood ignites. No more fussing with paper or lighter fluid. The cubes burn cleanly and with no odor. It’s such a welcome treat to pop one of these cubes in and within minutes have a beautifully lit fire pit that I can relax and enjoy without struggling to get it started.

This is a brick of 24 firestarting cubes. This is compressed wood, cellulous and some kind of glue/accelerant. These are ideal for starting a small fire. If you are lighting a fireplace, you may have to throw in the entire pack. These are better for outdoor campfires, where just one lit for a few minutes can start kindling wood, and then you can gradually add more dense wood to the fire. This set comes with the cubes that break off easily from the rest. Individually, they burn for about five minutes and seem to be windproof. I didn't try to light them when they are wet, but I suspect they might given the smell of the glue/accelerant.

First off these are a really good price for the amount you get. These are going to be perfect for camping this summer. They work great. They lit up easily too. We used one in the BBQ and had no issue. I love that they are water proof.

I've been on an emergency preparedness kick recently and have been wanting some portable fire starter material. This was reasonably priced and looked like it'd fit the bill. Well, the start on fire easily with a striker rod and stay burning for about 10 minutes, which is plenty to get a strong fire going. They are also waterproof. They smell a little bit like oil, but are in no way too strong smelling to keep in a 72 hour kit inside.

I love campfires, and wanted an easy and compact way to get them started to store in my camper. This package is nice and flat, so it can be stored anywhere. The 24 starter squares are much smaller than I expected, however, they work very well getting a fire going - burning several minutes and allowing even damp wood to get started. For the price, it makes sense to have a few of these packs handy for emergencies, and impromptu campfires!

I've always liked these sorts of firestarters as they burn hot, even in wet conditions. Not this brand, though. It was windy and raining when I tested a piece, but it was extremely hard to get lit. I frayed it out and was using a lighter, but the wind would blow the starter material out before the flame could grow. If you are patient, you might be okay with using these to get a fire going in your fireplace, but I recommend against taking them out into the wild. They aren't reliable enough for that.
