Okay but take your knives for professional sharpening
If you cannot use a whetstone, this may be okay, but it doesn't really sharpen as well as a whetstone... if you know how to use one. Better to take a high-quality Japanese knife to a professional sharpener twice a year. Good to try but also heard it will take off too much metal and reduce the life of a high quality knife.

Ok knife sharpener.
Bought this for my miyabi knives. Sharpened fine at first and how doesn't seem to be sharpening as well, not sure if I got a defective model as it's past the return window now. Oh well.

Fast, Solid, Reliable sharpener for Asian Blades
I bought this sharpener with little belief that it would actually work. I was totally wrong. It works great! My knife had become very dull after many hours of use daily for month with no sharpening. It was wrong not to sharpen or at the least refresh the edge each day since I use the knife so much (like 2 hours a day!). I was pretty sure I would need to start from scratch on the blade and this sharpener get the basic angle back and then the finishing put the fine sharpening on well. Now I run it through the 2nd step after each day and I am good to go! Great product. Fast shipping! PS - remember that this sharpener is for Asian angled knives, not an American blade so be sure you are using the correct angled sharpener for your knife! This sharpener actually matches my knife.

Works great
Works on miyabi brand knives and shun as well. Perfect for when you don't want to break out a tri stone or wet stones.

Good for Miyabi knives
It’s fairly easy to use (likely much easier than the sharpening stone). Worked great for our Miyabi knife. It’s back to it’s full sharp self. I did try to sharpen another Japan made knife but didn’t work as well on that one.

Works as advertised
Gets the job done. Wish there was less plastic and more metal in the build.

Weak, mine broke. Not sturdy.
Pro: Sharpens thin blade precision Japanese knives at correct degreeCons: Weak construction, very light, doesn't feel well made. My fine wheel kept popping out of it's plastic yolke - on the inside of unit.Chipped one of my good knives as one wheel was out of alignment when it arrived and blade inserted on metal top of sharpening wheel. This did somehow correct after I put a sturdier cheap knife in for a few spins. In my opinion it's a $8 sharpener with a $50 price tag. Unfortunately it's impossible to find another fast system to polish up your fine edges. Luckily most quality Japanese knives don't require frequent sharpening. I wish someone made a fast affordable touch up option. I loathe using the stones.
