The plastic V60 the best option for efficiency in your brewing routine and overall functionality
I've recently added the plastic HARIO V60 02 dripper to my coffee brewing arsenal, and it has quickly become a cornerstone of my morning ritual. As an avid coffee enthusiast, finding the right tools that combine functionality with efficiency is crucial, and this dripper does just that. One of the standout features of this model, which is crucial for any coffee brewer, is its heat retention capabilities. Unlike other materials, the plastic construction of this V60 not only makes it easy to handle and preheat but also retains heat exceptionally well throughout the brewing process. This consistent temperature maintenance is key to extracting the fullest flavor from your coffee grounds, ensuring a rich and robust cup every time. Additionally, this is a rather thick plastic. It is exceptionally smooth and does not look or feel as cheap as it is. The dripper's design is also worth noting. It accommodates 1-4 cups, making it perfect for personal use or when entertaining guests. The transparent plastic not only looks sleek but allows for visibility of the coffee as it brews, enhancing the overall experience and making it easier to achieve the perfect brew by observing the drip rate and color. This V60 brewer combines aesthetic appeal with functional excellence. Its superior heat retention, especially noteworthy in the plastic version, makes it a superior choice for those seeking to refine their pour-over technique and enjoy a consistently great cup of coffee. Whether you’re a seasoned barista or a home brew enthusiast, this dripper is an excellent investment.

Easy to clean with soft sponge and soap, makes more than 1 cup at a time
Just as described and perfect in design and use. This is how it supposed to be, and I purchased the ceramic vs plastic because plastic does get damaged over time with hot water and if using boiling water, which I like to use, I figured porcelain/ceramic is better and worth the price. Yes, I have to be careful not to break it, and its like any other coffee mug, break it and replace it. Its not that heavy or bulky, just like a typical mug, just a bit more weight. Plastic is way lighter in weight and forgiving if you drop it or hit it by an accident, so that would be 2 benefits to purchasing plastic one, which I do recommend as well. (Hario brand). Plastic is also better for travel or camping, but I would take this one camping as well if need be. I do recommend this product and I didn’t want to go with a knockoff, because I respect Hario and their craftsmanship is on point. Buying knockoffs will get you by and sometimes, its worth the extra bucks to get the original piece knowing it will not fail you in design and functionality. (Unless you get lucky and find a great knockoff, which I didn’t want to bother this time). You can use almost any filter with it if you fold it and make it cone shape. I use big filters I have left from traditional coffee machine. Will say that its best when your coffee grounds are fine and some store-bought coffee grounds are too coarse so I rather grind my own, extra fine, and you get more out of your coffee, plus fresh grounds are always more aromatic and indulging. But any coffee grounds will work, I just find it using less of fine vs coarse grounds to achieve the same results. Remember, coffee industry recommends 2 tablespoons (10g) for every 6 oz water, which is a good place to start to find your preference. Double the amounts when using this dripper and make sure your mug or glass is 12oz or more to avoid overspill. Hope this review gives you a better idea about Hario V60 coffee dripper 02 ceramic. This review gave me something to do this weekend, for sure! Lol ;-)

Best coffee for the lowest price
I absolutely love the Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper, and it has become an essential part of my daily coffee routine. Here’s why I think it’s fantastic: Pros: Excellent Brew Quality: The V60 design, with its spiral ribs and large single hole, allows for a clean, well-extracted cup of coffee. The result is a bright, flavorful brew with just the right amount of complexity. Durable and Lightweight: The plastic construction is surprisingly durable and lightweight. It’s perfect for everyday use, and I don’t have to worry about it breaking easily. Size 03 is Versatile: The Size 03 is ideal for brewing larger batches of coffee, making it great for when I have guests or just want a bigger cup for myself. Easy to Clean: Just rinse when done. Affordable: Compared to other brewing methods, the Hario V60 is very affordable, especially considering the quality of coffee it produces. It’s a great value for the price. Cons: Learning Curve: If you’re new to pour-over coffee, there’s a bit of a learning curve to mastering the perfect brew. It takes some practice to get the grind size, water temperature, and pouring technique just right. Requires Filters: You’ll need to use Hario V60 filters, which are an additional cost. However, the filters are widely available and relatively inexpensive. Overall Impression: The Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper is a fantastic investment for any coffee lover. It consistently delivers a delicious, high-quality cup of coffee, and its simplicity and durability make it a joy to use every day. Rating: 5/5 I can’t recommend this enough—it’s a game-changer for my coffee routine!

Nice dripper, easy to clean.
Like the silicon ring which keeps the dripper from grinding against glass or ceramic coffee cup, although it was probably meant to reduce any slipping. It many not fit every cup but it works great for the cups I use. It is made of glass which makes it easy to clean, but also means you have to handle carefully ... don't let it slip. :-) I've been using for almost one year ... don't jinks, fingers crossed.

I've tried them all
I've tried the ceramic, glass, metal, and plastic models of the Hario V60 size drippers. I started with this one, ceramic. I dropped it on a tile floor and it broke a piece of the edge off and that started my journey of trying all of the Hario V60s. They were all fine. Now I am back to the ceramic and it is the best of them all. I am happy to have a lifetime supply of Hario V60s. I won't ever make coffee with anything else. I like the ceramic the best because I think it holds heat the best. It is a little "heavy", which I do not mind. I put a filter in the V60. I pour hot water over the filter until the carafe is nearly full, which heats the V60 and the carafe. I pour out that water, put the coffee grounds in the filter and make my coffee. I get very hot coffee doing it this way, which I like. The other V60s are fine but I think if you want maximum hot ceramic is the way to go. That being said, the other models are great. The metal one is light and I don't think you could break it by dropping it. The glass one is very tough, I dropped it on the same tile floor and it did not break. Might have just gotten lucky there. The plastic one is fine, seems basically indestructible, I just hate plastic so I didn't use it much. I wonder about the repeated heating/cooling causing the plastic to crack over time. I have seen reviews that claim flavor differences between the models. This is a load of hogwash, in my world. The coffee tastes the same, no matter the model. I use the same method with each. Preheat, make coffee, drink immediately.

Makes a good cup of java
Almost returned this dripper before opening up the box and using, as I misinterpreted its design from the website. I had been seeking a filter-less dripper. Decided to keep it, figuring it was an upgrade from the plastic Melitta cone I had been using. And happy to share that this is a GREAT product. The resulting brew is richer and more flavorful. Taking off one star only for pricing. Would have purchased the resin version but decreasing the use of plasticware in the kitchen where possible.

Hario V60 vs Melitta pour over coffee drippers
For the past 25 years I've used a Melitta pour over coffee dripper just like this Hario V60. But I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about with these newer pour over drippers. Both coffee drippers are size 02, however they obviously cannot use the same paper filters because the Melitta uses standard 02 filters that any 02 sized coffee drip machine also uses(which I also use), whereas the Hario uses a special cone shaped filter similar to the Chemex. So after using both for a month now they pretty much taste the same... However the Hario probably edges out the Melitta because of the straight through design and higher quality filter. The Melitta may give a stronger cup of coffee however because I think the hot water steeps longer in the grinds due to the fact that the hole in Melitta is much much smaller, about a few milimeters wide. Whereas the hole in the Hario V60 is massive, almost the size of a quarter. What is interesting though is that the coffee drips through the Melitta at almost the same rate as the Hario... Until the 3rd or 4th cup. If you are making more than two cups of coffee with the Hario be prepared to sit for a very long time... The grounds get settled at the bottom of the cone filter and no matter how much water you pour in it the drip is SLOW, about 4X slower than the first two cups of coffee. I typically make three cups of coffee all at once, two to drink now and one cup for later. That third cup of coffee is so slow to make with the Hario it is maddening. It could also be maybe that the Hario filters are thicker? This is also probably why the flavor of the coffee is different between the two. I tested both using the exact same amount of freshly grinded dark roast coffee and exact same method of pour with blooming. I like my coffee flavor strong, so the Melitta makes a little stronger tasting coffee. The Hario is made in Japan, so if you read some of the reviews from Japan at the bottom and click on translate, the people in Japan think that the Hario is what you would find at the dollar store in Japan! Just saying. Anyways I got the Hario for 9 bucks shipped so no big deal, but I definitely would not pay more than $9 for it especially because you have to buy the special cone filters online or at a specialty coffee shop since normal super markets don't carry them. They're just filters anyways. I am rating this 5 stars anyways due to the portability of it, the ease of use, and the durability since I bought the plastic version. You can take this when you travel and not worry about it breaking. If you can find a Hario for less than $10, then go for it!
