This slip lead is great, but I would recommend a little padding on the handle. If the dog pulls you may get rope burns. I added some felt that had adhesive on it that works perfect. The size is 1" thick, which seems a bit thick for most dogs, but is super durable and easy to hold. To make this leash more versatile, you can unloop it and add a double bolt clip and you have yourself a standard leash. My dog is in-between training and almost mastered walking on a leash, so she'll pull only sometimes. When she is really pulling a lot and needs guidance we use the slip lead. When she is on a casual walk with no distractions, I'll turn the leash into a normal leash. At first I didn't use the stopper but I really like this option now. It makes me feel good knowing I won't choke the dog or cause injury if the stopper is placed correctly. You can easily move the stopper down if you choose not to use it. The leather slip tab is also very nice and moves smooth and stays put when you need it to. I ordered a used/new at a discounted rate and it truly was a new leash. Tags were still attached. Saved myself a few bucks! The colors are vibrant and many people comment on how nice it looks. The item shipped quick and overall I am very happy with my purchase.

This is the best. Thick and durable. There is a slight stiffness to it that makes it very easy to hold it out so my dog can just stick her head through it — herself. This is very important as she does not like to wear harnesses or collars and has gotten nippy when the process of “suiting her up” takes a long time or requires a lot of fuss. I’ve had other slip knot leashes, but this is by far the best looking, most durable feeling, and most importantly, easiest for me and my dog to put on. The patterned leash is extra good looking in-person. It also feels great in my hand. My dog pulls and is extremely strong. It will hold her and keep my hand from being injured. Buy it! The price is amazing for what you get.

Things I do love about this product: - the built-in reflective strips. These were super useful and gave me sense of mind for walking down my driveway/near roads at night. Wouldn't recommend as visibility for long night treks, but car headlights shining on them definitely made them light up pretty well :) - the design, I really liked the faux leather accents, and as stated above, the implementation of the reflective strips - quality, way better than a lot of other rope slip leads I've seen. - the colors, I like the variety they offer and that they're a bit more unique shades then the standard red/blue/green Saying that: Unfortunately, they didn't last a year. I only used them on my dogs to take them for potty breaks 2-3x a day; I have sturdier leashes/collars for their training and walks. The point of breakage was the faux leather tabs. I try to reduce what animal products I purchase, so I liked that these had the look/feel of leather, but as much as I hate to admit it, faux leather just does not compare to the real thing. Biothane is definitely stronger than either, but the accents on these leashes was cheap pleather. Overall, if you're looking for a leash for potty breaks, kennel work, etc., but you're okay with getting it replaced every 10-12 months (which is a longer lifespan than a lot of those cheap ribbon kennel leads), I'd recommend it. But for your average dog owner, maybe not so much. I HIGHLY recommend Mendota slip leads instead, they are not much pricier than the Friends Forever leashes but will withstand a lot more. They use leather accents and the rope quality is much better as well.

We've used many types of harnesses and leashes for our 100+ lb GSD. He has a very heavy pull, especially when his prey-drive kicks in so walking with him can be a challenge at times. We always thought that using full chest harnesses was the best option until our kennel guy recommended a slip rope lead. We figured it worked for him since he is a great handler and we did not thing our GSD would go for it at home. We are very glad we tried this leash, it works great for both our GSD and Akita. Initially we had to train them, but within a couple days they warmed up to it. They respond very well to the loose feeling of the slip leash compared to the usual, restrictive harnesses we've used in the past. We do still have to periodically train them when we take extended breaks from walks/exercise, but they always revert back to more relaxed walk within a day or two. The leash itself is very durable and comfortable to hold and comes in true to advertised color. We've used the leashes for about a year now and show no signs of detrimental wear and tear. Give it a try, it worked for us!

While we still use tradtional collars and leash, this item is terrific for several non-training situations and I would recommend it heartily. First, we keep it handy when we know company is coming to the front door or the UPS man is arriving because it is extremely easy and fast to slip over our pup's head and it provides enough control to get through exciting events. Teaching the dog to love it took about 10 minutes. Make a big loop, offer a treat and have the dog stick his head through. That simple. No buckles to fuss with. Second, if a dog has to wear a "no lick cone" for any reason, this lead is perfect. You make a really big loop and it fits easily over the cone. EZ PZ. Third, the cord diameter is large and the materials soft. Easy on a dog's neck and throat. Now that our 6 month old Lab is leash trained, we often use this lead for casual moments (like stopping for a piddle) because it is easy to use and provides control and safety for a dog.

I was silly that I didn't realize the leash didn't have a clip. I must rather a clip as my dog pulls and I wouldn't want him to hurt himself. If this leash is right for you it looked to be great quality but sadly I had to send back.

Bought this for our hard to walk 1 yr old Golden Retriever male. We tried halties ,halters ,chokers. Harness nothing worked he is a puller wants to smell everything. After less then one week on this he is responding to this excellently after two weeks he is walking right beside me no pulling. This leash plus constant good reinforcement we finally got him to where it’s so much more pleasurable to walk him

Good quality, thick rope, fits comfortably on the dog's neck. No chafing. Recommended.
