We wanted to get our little builder different tools to build aside from standard blocks and legos. These are very fun. They are simple - two pieces, a straw and a connector, and out of the box, our son was building his standard "go-to" creation: a garage. They are easy to put together and help him with his fine-motor skills, yet they are durable enough (and don't come apart too quickly) to make semi-circles or a pointed-bow of a boat. There may be a little challenge in the toy in that all the straws don't stay on all the connectors all the time while you're building, but that just seems to encourage creative thinking. We recommend this toy!

I took my kids to a science museum recently where they had this toy. They were using it to demonstrate a cantilever type activity and my nine and eleven year old boys played with it for a long time. I had to drag them away. That inspired me to get it for them Christmas. I decided to get one set for each of my four boys ages five, nine, eleven and thirteen knowing that they would all play together and combine their materials to make some larger items. They all loved it and have already played it for hours. There is so much you can do with these. My nine year old says that they are really sturdy but you can still bend them. They have made structures large enough to climb in and have had creativity contests as well. There are so few things all of my kids will play with with their various ages and I love that about this toy. I would definitely recommend it for just about any ages 3 and up.

I gave this creative building toy to my youngest granddaughter (almost 6yrs old) for Christmas. She & her older sister (8yrs old) love it, and really enjoy building & creating the many projects available, and even some of their own design. They love the ease of assembly, the multi-colors, and being creative with their imaginations. Due to the ease of assembly, the straws can sometimes come apart from the connectors when under stress when being flexed or moved, but this is an easily fixed & minor problem. Not sure whether my son will play with this as much as I thought he would based on reviews but he has had some fun with it. He gets frustrated because the connections pop out on some of the curved designs (even when copying the designs they suggest so not because he is trying to curve them more than they should go). All in all, a good open ended toy though. Glad I bought the smaller set so we can see just how much he enjoys it before deciding whether or not to buy the bigger set for larger projects.

I purchased this for my 3 year old twins and they love them. They have spent hours creating and I've had fun with them too. Now, it has been about a year since they started using them and the ends are getting a little bit loose, so they don't stay together as well, but with the amount of time they've spent with them and the time that has elapsed, it is not surprising. I would recommend these for any little kid who likes to organize and put things together.

My grandson received a set of the Roylco Straws and Connectors - 230 pieces for his birthday from his Aunt and Uncle. He absolutely loved building different shapes with it. As we watched him playing with it we thought he would love being able to build bigger and taller things with another set. He and his sister have spent hours playing with it. So we decided to order a set for him to double the amount of pieces for one of his holiday gifts. Wow..did he love getting another set! When he opened the package he was so excited and immediately began playing with both sets with his grandfather. This is an exciting and creative toy that can carry a child thru several years of play. What a unique idea. It's great. I am so glad that we found it on Amazon.com as we had no idea where his Aunt and Uncle had purchased the first set.

We have cats, not kids. We also have a bunch of hard drives, and an ashtray, or two. Our cats are not the most active, but a few knocked over ashtrays, and finding hard drives have fallen 8" to the floor made me look for a solution.These are fun, can be set up fast, taken down fast, and add an air of whimsy (my excuse at least). They are just enough to keep cats from running or crawling through and area, but do not limit the cooling for the hard drives. I recommend using the blue, yellow and green ones for uprights and upper areas as cats see those colours better, according to Wiki. For the price and the piece of mind they are totally worth it, and if prissy company is coming over they can be moved easily.

I have to admit that it was a lot of fun to build, but it comes apart really easily at the slightest touch. In addition, as soon as we covered it with a sheet it started collapsing. So I tried to find some type of fabric even lighter than a sheet. Even the very light fabric was too heavy for it and it eventually collapsed. I will return it while I still can.

Item came faster than expected and the kids love building with these!

I bought these for my classroom and they are a hit! Highly recommend and lots in the package for students to share and have fun with.
