The Sweetest Obsession: A Small Town Grumpy Sunshine Romance (Dark Hearts of Redhaven Book 2)

Sweetly (and sweat-ily) obsessed with this book!
I am a bit obsessed with every book by this author, waiting with bated breath for the next release. The Sweetest Obsession (Redhaven Book 2) by Nicole Snow was certainly no exception, worth the wait, exciting, thrilling and so full of heart.I was intrigued by Grant in book 1 of this series. He totally lives up to his grumpy attitude while demonstrating real emotions with his family and especially his little Nelly-girl. And, I adored watching him transform for Ophelia.Besides being a Nicole Snow book, this story has a great deal going for it. What I loved about Grant and Ophelia's story is the characters themselves, their second chance, heartbreak with a hopeful silver lining, mysterious events, lurking dangers, dark and sinister intentions, love, family, sweet connections along with those of the very steamy variety. Honestly, this is just the tip of the iceberg for me. I could go on forever about the characters, their backgrounds, and their love, but that would totally spoil it!If you ask me, Nicole Snow has mastered the Grumpy alpha Hero and Grant is absolutely a fantastically hot, rough, raw, sweet, tender, determined and ultra protective example. Her Heroines are just as interesting and entertaining. Ophelia is exactly what Grant needs. Not only because of a shared history, but because she calls him out, has sass to match his grumpiness while remaining sweet, kind, and loving despite the cloud of worry and despair hovering over her.Overall, The Sweetest Obsession is a wonderful read for all those reason listed above and so much more. Plenty of moving parts and unresolved circumstances make this a thrilling and suspenseful page turner while other aspects with smash your heart to smithereens with underlying hope. And the ending will not disappoint! It's all goodness and light, love and a promising future. Grant and Ophelia's HEA is absolutely guaranteed and not to be missed!I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

Could be better.
I would've enjoyed this so much more if the book had actually been focused on the story versus the words the author put onto paper.Much like the first book, it's overly wordy and melodramatic.A solid 100 pages could be cut out without losing anything. At minimum. It doesn't help when the author fails to remember what constitutes a paragraph.Because everything is on a separate line to add *gravity* and *suspense*.Sometimes the metaphors and descriptions get so out of hand it becomes ridiculous.See how dumb this is? It's absolutely okay here and there to add effect, but when your entire book is written like everything you're saying is supposed to besoimportantto the narrativewhen it most assuredly *isn't*that the effect is lost entirely. And the wordiness? We don't need 5 pages to describe a kiss, for god's sake.It takes something like 10% of the book to describe their date and the night after... and the date itself was maybe 3% of that.Trim the fat.More is not always better. That being said, I liked Grant and Ophelia. I liked how honest they were with each other. I liked the story and the suspense, even if the big secret was easy to guess.

Intense and crazy
Loved the story and all of the characters. Definitely a tear jerker at times. Those CRA CRA people in the mansion on the hill are just terrible unforgiving crazy. Time to take them out! Of the story I mean.... Lots of twists keep the story intense, but leaving lots of time for love and family. Lived it.

not for me
I loved grant don’t get me wrong , I think he’s the only good thing in this book. Literally I hated how everything was dragged on forever lol they over explained things BUT the things that you would actually like to be explained. Like Ethan’s death. It was a big thing throughout the entire story and we only got a small “paragraph “ almost at the end explaining what we knew already. He got killed trying to save that girl Celeste or wtv. BORING. I was expecting a twist where he was alive and the arendelles had him or something but nope just dead and nothing else. I felt like Nicole needed to give us more related to his death because it’s what drew grant and Ophelia apart soooooo. Just felt like an afterthought BOOORING.

Love this series
Wow! I got to tell you. The town of Redhaven is one sick and twisted town. Full of deception, murder and so much more all centered around the town royalty in the big scary house at the top of the hill.In this second installment of the book the story focuses around Captain Grant Faircross. He has been looking for his best friend for many years. Ethan disappeared the same night that Lucas Graves' sister did. Now with her disappearance solved Grant thinks that it is just a matter of time before they find out what happened to Ethan.Old memories and pains are hard to hide as Grant runs into a blast from the past. Someone he left on a bad note...Ethan's sister Ophelia. Now back in town to deal with her mother's illness Ophelia is accosted by as madman on her first day and things just get weird after that. With Ophelia's sister acting strange and the strange man stalking her, Grant steps in to lend a hand.Things change as time goes on and dark secrets of the past come back to haunt the duo. This book is a sick and twisted tale. It has some triggers in it that may not be suitable for you. Kidnapping, violence, drugs etc. I don't want to give away too much so I will leave you with this note. The town of Redhaven has some dark secrets and I cannot wait to see what else awaits us and the town unravels at the scenes.

slow burn
This one took awhile to get through as it starts slow. The story line is top notch and of course a few unexpected turns. In the end, loved Ophelia and Grant’s story. Their lifetime of love for each other took a long time to come together at last. While tragedy drove them apart the first time, this time they won’t let potential tragedy and family secrets keep them apart.

The Saga Continues.
A very good book. The suspense will keep your interest, if the obvious love doesn't. The only distracting thing is the authors use of "ain't". The characters are smart people. The use of ain't, makes them seem like hicks. Definitely distracting.

Wow what a story
A great storyline, what a rollercoaster story. Ophelia and Grant’s story. She returns to Redhaven after leaving 10 years ago due to her brother being missing ?dead, tragic things happening, girls murdered and her brother’s best friend Grant on the day she left argued with her and told her never to come back, both grieving for her brother, both had feelings for each other. She came back because her mums cancer had come back and she was very ill. She tried to get in touch with her younger sister Ros who was ignoring her. There is loads more to this story, lots of drama, Ophelia being stalked and threatened by an old man so Grant has her stay with him and his young niece. Its very sad in parts, hankies needed, so many twists, but worth the read. I didn’t realise I hadn’t read book 1 so thats my next read.

I have enjoyed the series so far, BUT.....
Although I've very much gotten into the characters and backstory of these 2 books (so far), I can't really disagree with the negative comments I noticed.I presume another instalment is on its way (this one having been published December 2023 I believe?), in which case, hopefully the back of follow-thru on Chief Bowden will be addressed, because quite frankly if his wife is telling people there's a problem and he isn't even turning up for work or his underling's weddings etc, how exactly would he still be the Chief? The Big House family no longer have the credibility, so how are they saving him etc etc??? Also in book 1 it said they were literally paying for everything, so how is that even realistic???In addition, in this book, I found the constant descriptive stuff about Grant to be a little bit O T T, a few times yeah it's interesting, but seriously it seemed Ophelia had herself a lil fetish about big boys going on there....That said, I look forward to seeing what happens next.I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (free book but I have to pay £7.99 a month for the subscription)

Brilliant
OMG....who would have thought that Grant was so special. To wait and pine that maybe one day Ophelia would come back to Redhaven. What a man🔥Had me on the end of my seat countless times especially when The Arrendells were in the picture. Gèe how bloodthirsty Montero's sons were. And then for Philia and Ros to find out he was their FatherFabulous reading. Loved that Grant got to organise their wedding and he even incorporated the Blue Butterflies 💙So, so happy they were getting their HEA they so deserved and made little Nell have a Mom she wanted.Thankyou again Nicole for making me live within the story yet again ❤

A must read suspense with a second chance romance on the side
Redhaven police force may have cut off one arm of the Arundell family, but the head of the snake is still going. Who is the head of the snake? Caught in the middle are Ros and her sister Ophelia. She has come home to care for her sick mother but soon finds herself embroiled in the scandal, secrets and danger surrounding Redhaven and the Arundells. But will the biggest danger be to her heart when she reconnects with Grant, her brothers best friend and the man she’s loved forever? Although he pushed her away, Grant has never gotten over Ophelia. Now he’s gotten a chance to claim the woman he loves. With old hurts, current dangers and secrets that someone will go to any lengths to protect can he save Ophelia and her family before its too late? This story packs quite a punch. It’s a cross between a who done it mystery and a second chance romance. Not only did it leave my emotions in tatters, it’s also gritty, suspenseful, heart wrenching, dramatic and in places absolutely heart stopping.
