The scent is subtle and very pleasant. It DOES make the water softer and it feels so silky smooth you won't want to get out of your tub. A small amount of foam is produced right after adding it, but we just scoop it out. I wish they offered it in a smaller bottle because we were almost afraid to try it due to the cost. It's a great value, though. I only use SpaGuard products in my spa, and I have yet to be disappointed. A+

We've been using Spa Complete for a couple years now. We have a small hot tub that gets used daily and the chemicals tend build up pretty quickly, which creates chemical odor issues. Spa Complete does a great job of eliminating the chemical odors and makes the water feel "softer" if that makes sense.Several people mentioned bubbles. A few bubbles is normal, but if you see a lot of bubbles, then you are adding too much. A little bit goes a long way. It should not look like a bubble bath. Make sure you shake it up every now and then, or when you get to the bottom of the container, what's left won't be as effective.Yes it's expensive, but should last several months. Again, you don't need to add a lot.They do seem to have issues with the product being damaged in shipping, but that's the fault of the delivery companies mishandling the container. If it arrives damaged, request a refund.

I used it while adding other chemicals on my weekly maintenance. I like the smell but I think it interacted with the other chemicals and caused a greenish ring around the top. It was sticky and got all over my skin since I got in during the night and couldn't see very well.

So, this product is really amazing… if you don’t use too much!! Comes with a measuring cup/lid covering the sealing cap and directions say capful. I assumed the measuring lid and things got a bit murky. I let it correct itself, tried using the sealing cap for measure and things have been great since! Real helps to cut down use on other chems.

I read the other reviews about people having problems with foam. After checking all of my other chemical levels and getting them all balanced, I mixed in 25 percent of the recommended amount of this product, and let it mix for about 20 minutes, then let it sit, then another 20 minutes or so of mixing with the Jets - foam was pouring out from beneath the lid of the hot tub! Now I have extremely cloudy water, permanent foam no matter how much I scoop out, and a yellow ring of scum all around the top edge of the water. And I don't even smell it at all. Ugh... My hot tub is barely one month old. I guess I'll learn how to drain it tomorrow morning.Update (months later):I decided to try this again with a brand new filled up (and scrubbed clean) hot tub. I got my chemicals all in correct balance, then turned off the Jets. Put in this product. Let it sit with no jets for 24 hours. Just as previously, once you turn on the Jets, you get an overflow of foam. Literally foaming out of the top of the hot tub. I decided to get in anyway since this was brand new water. After a brand new cleaning of the hot tub. Everything was slimy and extremely slippery. There were yellow and brown webs of crap all over the walls of my hot tub. It's not even a year old hot tub, and I get these resultsI am just going to find a place that will recycle this or dispose of it properly. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone at all. Ever.

This stuff work great at keeping my spa clean and useable. Great price and easy to use.

added this and the hot tub foamed up like a bubble bath. Too bad we aren't young again. Hesitant to use again after I get rid of all the foam.

This is a great product and totally changes the feel of the water to silk. My wife has very critical skin allergies. With my previous chemicals I could keep everything spot on and it still would irritate and cause itching for her after she was out for a while. Adding this eliminated it instantly. I did a complete flush and cleaning of the tub. I then refilled with the recommended amount for my tub but I found that that is actually a little too much. Like most chemicals there’s some trial and error and it’s different for everybody but I can actually use less in the maintenance dose and get a perfect result for us. It has a very nice aromatic light scent. I highly recommend this.
