I didn't know what to expect here-there's no track listing on Amazon-so I was pleasantly surprised @ the format: two cds, acoustic/electric/live/singing.It's really more impressive than i expected. Thankfully, they left "Sonora's Death Row" off of the vocals; I've hated it since I first heard it on "The Essential..." many years ago. The only version of "Standing in My Shoes" I've ever heard that I like is an octave lower on the cd of that name-which isn't easy to find. The version here is his usual straining, an octave too high for his voice.

We switched from the vinyl record to the CD. It's more portable. This was a great album on vinyl and is just as enjoyable to listen to on CD.

Anyone familiar with Kotke's work will want this collection. One of the better artists to be found in acoustic guitar idiom. Not the most impressive picker you will ever hear but definitely some of the most enjoyable music ever.

Disk in good shape. No album art just generic clear cover that wasn't in that good of shape. Still love Leo.

Like Leo the album does not disappoint.

Leo Kottke is a master.

I will keep this short and sweet. I was turned on to Leo Kottke many years ago by a good friend. This is a guy who make an acoustic 12 string sound like nothing else. Listening to him reminds you of what the really great guitar players can do, like Stevie Ray, and Clapton, and Jeff Beck, and although his music is more grounded in Folk and Americana than Blues or Jazz (or Rock) as the other players I mentioned, he is an equal in every way to these greats and others.The only negative thing I can say is that as singer, he is one hell of a guitar player!... but even he knows that, and it will make you like him even more.If you have the chance to see him live, just do it.....Its magic to watch his hands and fingers work the guitar...you will leave in awe, that I guarantee.

Handy, budget priced compilation of Leo's various styles. If you are a guitarist yourself you might find yourself ditching your instrument in a Wayne's world 'I'm not worthy' mind-set after hearing tracks like Vaseline machine-gun - phew!A good starting place for the casual fan, but obviously the real connoisseur will make a bee-line for the original '6 &12 string guitar' CD.

This CD has some good old titles from Kottke's portfolio and is a most enjoyable foray into his guitar work. Anyone who likes slide guitar and American music should enjoy this.

una bella raccolta del bravo chitarrista Leo Kottke che però io apprezzo moltissimo solamente quando incide cover sopretutto di brani tradizionali. nei pezzi scritti da lui mi appare solamente la sua bravura tecnica ma non mi emozionano

Habe ihn früher gehört, bei Schulkollegen (Jahrgang 1952!), und dann wieder auf seinen Namen gekommen, geamazont, Doppel CD gefunden, die genau das abdeckt, was ich gern wieder hören wollte und will. Für mich reicht diese Zusammenstellung absolut, hörenswert. Klar, es gibt natürlich noch mehr...
