I initially ordered this as a gift for someone else. When I saw how beautiful it was I had to get one for myself! Because the wax is white, it creates this slight color change effect as the globs float up and down. The closer the wax gets to the glass, the lighter in color it looks. So you get this really mesmerizing effect of each wax glob being a slightly different color or shade.Brightness is pretty dim, but I like it that way. It's an accent and not meant to light up the room. Just feels cozy.It functions as it should. Heat level seems a bit higher than it needs to be! I've had many lava lamps and this is the hottest one. You can tell it is a higher temp than it needs because, most of the wax is sitting at the top of the bottle. It takes longer for the wax to cool enough that it floats back down. It's still beautiful to look at. But I would never leave this on while away from home... As with any lava lamp, but especially this one.Also don't leave it on 24\7. The maintenance suggests not to leave it on more than 10 hours at a time.The more you use it, the faster it will warm up when u turn it on. The first few times it can take over an hour from being completely cool. But that time lessens. So definitely don't leave it on all the time.

I had to get a lava lamp for my classroom this year. It warms up quickly and is very mesmerizing. All my students love it.

I got these for my kids as part of their Christmas gifts and they’ve not worked properly yet. I chose them because I liked the shape—I figured it might be less prone to toppling over than the traditional rocket-shaped lamp. That may be true, however the wax in these doesn’t want to flow. It will melt and create one solid column of wax, but it doesn’t flow like a traditional one. Sometimes they’ll overheat and the wax will get a ton of air bubbles in it. Of the two I purchased, one of them has already blown through 3 bulbs in 3months.I’m well past the point of being able to return these, and I really tried to give them a chance (I tried fresh bulbs in case the ones it came with were duds, we changed outlets and placement in case it was reflecting too much heat back to itself, etc), but these lamps were a waste of money.If you’re looking for a lava lamp, please just go ahead and get a real one. This “bargain” wasn’t a bargain, and I wish I’d returned these in time.

This lamp looks very cool, light on or off is a nice addition to any room decor. The light is pretty bright but not enough to be an annoyance. It heats up but not to the point of burning, it took around 3 hours before the material inside melted and started making the big bubbles go slowly up. So far we love it and no issues.My only complaint, when I order this lamp the first time, the light arrive broken, the box was deteriorated (not giftable) and the lamp had fingerprints like someone had handled it before, the plastic bag was open everything was stuffed in it, the carbord that help to keep the lamp in place was cut and half of it was missing. I ask for a replacement that quickly arrived in 2 days and this one was in perfect conditions, all parts came nicely wrapped and protected by individual bags. In my opinion what I got was a return, I'm glad I order it weeks in advance before my husband birthday.

Bulb burned out really quickly and the lava turns stringy after its used a couple times. but decent if you get it on sale.

Perfect accent to any room! Love the cylinder shape, different than most lava lamps. Highly recommend

Product is overpriced and it's tiny. Bulb does not work either.
