WATT ZAP 30W Professional Fly Control

When I bought this a month ago there were no reviews but this was much cheaper than similar rivals so I took a gamble. And I'm very glad I did. It kills bugs - lots of them: house flies, fruit flies, wasps, moths, midgies and even things I've never seen before. Our kitchen is now pretty much a bug free zone. I really don't understand the negative reviews here, it's a great piece of kit which does exactly what it's designed to do.

Bought this last summer. No issues with it. Used sparingly enough. Plugged it in this year, and very soon, one of the bulbs blew. Well, it flickered like crazy and then started to discolour and heat up to red at one end. Really, i'd be surprised if it did more than 500hrs. Am now trying to remove that bulb and it's not altogether clear HOW! Seems like the little white housing at either end clips off. Not very clear. I might end up breaking it, but, if I dont manage to change tube, then it's going in the bin anyway. Don't think it's built for long service....

Flies are pesky things as many a cow will attest. Not having a tail and disliking fly spray an electronic zapper seemed the way for me to go. I have bought several of these in the past with mixed effect. This 30w Zap is an upgrade to the previous £10 zappers that I have bought, it has only been working a few hours yet my living space seems already to be fly free, the fly cadavers lying in the catch tray mean that my home is more hygenic than otherwise and I can dispose of that fly spray safely. Ecologically I think this a good thing as there are far too many chemicals around. This is a serious bit of kit and at £21.99 I consider it a bargain as on Ebay comparable offers tend to be more than twice the price. One of my better buys, grab one while you can.

I am a childminder in my home and this was great. I noticed a massive improvement after just one night. It's big for use at home but not too bad and it's slime so easy to put somewhere out of the way.

Had this for around a week now with no problems what so ever, kills all the bugs like it should. works better at evenings/mornings then full daylight though as we have full sun during the day.

The fixing chain is poorly positioned to the unit does not fit flush agains the wall, the base sticvks out several cm nmeaning that zapped insects have a tendancy to fall from the tray. I used the unit for a couple ofd weeks before inecxplicably it stopped working, returned it toi Amazon for full refund.

Cord is black and is intrusive. Cord is also very short, less than one meter, consequently an extension cord must be made for initial use. Fitting for the bug catching tray are flimsy and detracts from otherwise nice appearance.
