Recommended by many car manufacturers
This is good quality oil and which is recommended by a number of car manufacturers. Please note there are stop-start and non-stop-start versions of this oil. By the way, using stop-start function of the car is the quickest way to wear out the engine. Presumably the stop-start version of the oil means it is more sticky in the cylinders and takes longer to drain to the bottom under influnce of gravity when the engine stops because the next engine start, if there is no oil in the cylinders, is the action which wears out the engine. (I buy the cheaper which ever available at the time and disabled the stop-start function.) Wish Castrol sell this in 5 litre cans instead of 4 such that my car would use one whole can at every oil change instead of leaving some left over for next time. Not surprised that some reviewers found their purchases were out of date as that must be the catch when product is offered at low price. Anyway I am not worried because the oil is synthetic not mineral. In the days whem it was the norm to use mineral oil my father advised to change oil every 3000 miles. I listened to him about cars seeing as he managed a garage in his yournger days and I was a poor ex-student just finished studies at the time. Those were the days I bothered to change oil myself and dispose used oil at local municipal tip. Since manufacturers have set regulated hours for routine jobs, I stopped bothering but continue to supply the oil and filter to the respective garage (which ever brand) which was to do the servicing. As oil used in engines are mostly synthetic for some decades, I still have it changed 1. every year, 2. every service, 3. before 6000 miles since last change, whichever the sooner. Guess what ? Nurtured as such, the car engine hardly uses any oil and never needed a top up since the first and only top up after it's first service at 10,000 miles. Moral of the story ? Don't believe in the marketing hype and stop-start technology or only putting your car into service when the "notification" lights show on dash. The owner won't see significant negative effects during first 3 years and 30,000 miles but subsequent drivers will. If it needs half a litre of topping up between oil changes, that is early sign that engine is worn prematurely. Thus forget about the evnironmental claims of "Climate friendly" with stop-start because a worn engine would harm the climate come due to prevoius owners having engaged the stop-start function of the car. Bring it on, wexpired oil never mind; the lower prices means my car engine gets even more frequent change of fresh oil.
