We saved hundreds compared to buying from the local big box store. We were replacing round wood balusters. At first I tried screwing the top shoes into the railing, but that was a nightmare. Instead, we just stuck the top into the hole leftover after removing the wood baluster and used a shoe on the bottom only. Recommend having a 11/16” drill bit available to fit the square section of the baluster. Also, long and narrow #2 phillips bits and extension bits to drive the screws into the swivel shoes if you have any that need to mount at an angle.

This is not what I would call "easy to install" (like the description says.) I'm not a contractor, just an average jack of all trades DIYer, and it took me quite a while (2 ish hours) to space out, measure, cut, measure again, cut again, measure again, cut again, until I got them just right- parallel and evenly spaced.There is no guide, jig, template, etc included, and there can't be, because stairways aren't standard. You get a box of loose spindles, and you have to do all the figuring yourself. To be fair, I did not read a single article or watch a single instructional video. There are probably easier ways to do it than what I did. The instructions included are a joke. They say "cut them, and screw them in." Ok, thanks, great. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from DIYing these, just be prepared. You have to be pretty good at precision, angles, and have some patience.The quality of the actual item is very nice. We recently purchased an older home and the wood balusters had 9 inch gaps. This allowed children and pets to hang out over the living area. We wanted to keep the original railing and update the look along with bringing them within current codes. Easy installation and a beautiful addition!

Product looks great, but had shipping damage with 3 packets of hardware laying outside of the box on my porch.

My handy man was able to install these in one day. They have made a huge difference…updated my staircase! Just what I wanted!

This is a great set of balusters that I’ll be using on a newly renovated entry into my basement. It’s not only cheaper than what I could find at three local hardware centers, but more attractive. I inspected each rail individually and found them to be uniformly manufactured and free from defect. Additionally, it includes both angled and flat brackets to support any installation that you might require – a good thing because I have a sloped install in mind and have no doubt that this set will work perfectly.
