Easy to use and understand; fun
I didn't want to spend a lot on a alcohol-level reader because I wasn't sure how often I'd use it and not sure how accurate any of them are so I bought this one because it was the cheapest by the company that seemed reliable and because it was so small as to be easily carried around in my pocket and because it allows you to see your results and track your history on your iPhone or Android by downloading the app. Also, I figured it was an easy thing to lose while out drinking, so didn't want to spend a hundred bucks on it. Setting up takes just a second and you can charge it with the USB port, so that's fast. It's intuitive so you can pretty much go from there. To test it, turn it on and check; it should be 0.0. Start drinking - wait 15-20 minutes - and take your first reading. The number should go up, maybe 0.01 or even 0.02. The more you drink, the higher it will go; that's how you know it's working. As to accuracy, I think so. There were two of us and mine rose in level slower than his; I weigh 30 pounds more than he does so it takes more alcohol to get me drunk than him, I think, plus I have a higher tolerance due to heavier use over the past 40 years, lol. The most important things to remember, as they will remind you in the instructions, is that you need to wait 15-20 minutes after each drink to get a good reading; if you check your level earlier, your body hasn't absorbed it enough. Don't worry that if you don't take a reading right away it won't be accurate; it's the opposite: you need to wait for it to be accurate. (Sort of the opposite of waiting 30 minutes after eating to go swimming, lol.) Also, this is for fun; no guarantees that you're not drunker than they say. Also, remember that you're expecting levels to be 0.0x, not 0.x, know what I mean? In many states, a 0.08 level will get you a DUI. NOT 0.8. If you blow a 0.8, you're already dead. So if you want to get the highest number if you're out with friends and think it's funny to see who gets drunkest, stop at 0.14, not 1.4. If you blow a 1.4, you're already dead. The only problem I've had is I haven't been able to figure out how to get the tester to switch back from when you use the app to just getting the result from the tester. You should be able to test it both ways, I think; not using the app you should be able to just test and if you want to store results and get other information, you switch the tester to a different setting. It's in the instructions but haven't gotten to it yet. The results seem accurate - the numbers went up the more I drank. Again, wait before you test or you'll get a crazy number, and that number might be really high (I think because the alcohol is still partly in your mouth or something like that). Also, breathe deep before you blow. I don't think you have to breathe really, really deep, but even if you do, it won't affect your result adversely. The higher-priced products may be more accurate and/or give you more bells and whistles, so if you plan on using it often or for purposes other than just for fun (or, if you drink a lot all the time and want to have something reliable that might last a long time, buy those). I'm glad I have this; I should've purchased one years ago. It does make me more aware of the effects of each drink and now I can measure how my level changes compared to how I feel after each drink.

Genius
Works great, I love having it around as a fun party gimmick but also use it just to sort of “train” myself to know where I’m at with how much I’ve had to drink. Educational and fun in my opinion. Obviously not as reliable as a police/high grade BAC device, but is accurate and fun.

Important purchase
This is my second purchase. The last one was a few years ago, but it's not working anymore. This is critical to make sure you are always responsible.

Calibration requirements render this product useless
When I first received mine, I loved having it so I could have the peace of mind that I was safe to drive. However, over time (and not that long either - like a few months), it started to seem less accurate. At first I thought perhaps the drinks were weak at a particular bar and that explained why perhaps I blew a lower number than I thought I would. However, when I put it to the test while I was knowingly absolutely drunk, it showed a .01 reading. If you look deep in the instruction manual, the manufacturer suggests calibrating the unit every 6 months. Well, calibration cost $20 each time plus the hassle of having to ship it to them and wait 2-3 weeks for them to return it to you; only to have to repeat that every few months. Plus, since the calibration seems to slip a little with each use, it gives me no confidence whatsoever in the accuracy of the reading so my feeling is that it is more accurate and reliable to simply count drinks and stick to the one drink per hour rule, etc. If it did not require calibration or even if the calibration could be done easily by me at home, I would say this is a great product. However, I can not endorse it due to the need for such frequent calibration. Useless and could even be dangerous by giving people false low readings and making them think they are safe and legal to drive when they are actually not.

Compact, Accurate, and Surprisingly Capable
The BACtrack C6 strikes a good balance between portability and performance. Its keychain size makes it easy to keep in a vehicle or bag without taking up space, and it powers on quickly when needed. For a compact unit, the readings have been consistent and feel in line with what you’d expect from a reputable brand. The optional smartphone connectivity is a useful feature if you want to log results or track trends, but it also functions independently without forcing you to use the app. That flexibility is appreciated. The display is clear, and the controls are straightforward. The reason this isn’t a full five-star rating is that while accuracy appears solid, small handheld breathalyzers still require proper calibration and careful use to maintain precision. It’s a very useful tool for personal awareness, but it’s not a substitute for law enforcement-grade testing.

Worth every penny!
This is a great tool to have if you go out a lot and frequently have a few drinks. It's small and descrete so it can be used easily without others knowing. When it's time to leave, you can check if you should be driving or not. I wish I had this years ago. It seems to be very accurate and it is simple to use. It's worth every penny, as you can feel confident to know the level of alcohol you are at.

Great small breath alcohol testing device.
This keychain breath alcohol tester works great! I’ve tested it 5 times and I thinks it’s accurate. Can be operated with app or alone.

Prodotto corrispondente alla descrizione. Imballo ottimo. Pila AAA necessaria compresa.

I'll admit I bought this more as a party gimmick then for actually tracking BAC -- if I'm drinking I just don't drive. However if anything it gives you a lot of great insight into your habits and how a drink or two can affect you, and after a while, guessing your BAC becomes pretty accurate as it gives you a real benchmark to compare yourself to. I wouldn't keep this as a keychain only because it is plastic and the AAA battery cover lid feels like the first thing you'll lose or sit on and break, as well as the replaceable plastic tips you blow into seems like something to rapidly lose. However, kept in a jacket pocket or something it continues to soldier on. This unit also does Bluetooth to your phone to give you charting and insights, but really, using it in the standalone mode where no phone is required is by far the easier and more straightforward way to use it.
