Q: Just wondering if anyone has used on flat smooth painted walls? Have they stayed in place for a long time?

Speaking from my experience, no. I placed these on painted walls over some countertop in my basement and by the next day 1/2 had fallen off the wall behind the cabinets where I couldn’t retrieve them

Q: Can these tiles be used with additional 'vinyl adhesive' glue for better/permanent hold? Has anyone tried this?

They could very well be. Light layer only

Q: Has anyone bought the gray & white ones with black floral deisgn in the middle? I bought some from a different seller and the grey was actually blue.

The ones I bought were blue and gray. Make sure you check the size. They were smaller than I thought.
